What options are there from airport to cruise terminal?  Does Cunard have a shuttle?  Taxi? Other?

I suggest going to the Cunard board to ask about that cruise line's specific transportation options.

Otherwise you have numerous options...taxi, Uber/Lyft, and car service such as Dial 7 or Carmel Limo .

When is your cruise? With the pandemic, there has been a shortage of Uber and Medallion taxis at certain times. Uber will activate surge pricing, and there might a longer than usual wait for a medallion taxi.

I would prearrange a car service suggested above and then use the taxi or Uber as emergency backup.

If you are traveling solo, a cruise transfer might be cost effective.

New York City has the country's best public transportation system, and it is a viable option . . . if you're sufficiently comfortable using such systems and have good mobility with whatever baggage you may be carrying. (Without such comfort and mobility, best not to attempt . . . rely on a yellow taxi, Uber/Lift, or other car service.) From LaGuardia Airport, get the Q70 express bus to the 74th Street bus terminal in Jackson Heights. From there, board a subway train into downtown Brooklyn. Both the "F" and "R" trains do so directly, the "F" train being a bit quicker than the "R" train (but there are other choices, especially so if you're arriving early and wish to first stop in Manhattan or elsewhere before heading to the port). From the "F" or "R" train alight at Jay Street-MetroTech station, and go upstairs and walk south on Jay and Smith Streets a short block and one-half to the B61 terminal on Smith Street immediately south of Fulton Street. From there, the B61 bus operates frequently to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Alight from the B61 bus on Van Brunt Street at King Street, walk back one block on Van Brunt Street to Pioneer Street, turn left and walk three blocks into the cruise terminal. Since this is a bus-subway-bus trip, it will require two fares, or $5.50 total per person, plus an additional $1.00 to buy a MetroCard if you do not already have one (a single MetroCard can be used by multiple persons for the same journey).

I have heard many on the ship and boards talk about personal arrangements instead thru the cruise line.

Many sources are available in this big city.. Uber, Pvt Car Services, Dial 7 to name a few.

Just have to because with the timing and traffic from the airport to the terminal can be challenging especially on a city work day the the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.

Can be challenging when stuck on the highway with exits quite a distance.
