Cabin selection help please

If you look around the board, you will see many comments on the desirability of the aft corner deck 4 Neptunes, as they have HUGE balconies. As opposed to the Deck 8 Neptunes, which can be affected by people and pool noise immediately above

Thank you CruiserBruce.  I appreciate your quick response.   I was truly leaning towards the cabin on deck 4 but a HAL agent suggested to my daughter that noise from dining room below might be a concern.  Not sure I've ever heard complaints of noise due to being just above a dining room.  I will certainly enjoy the large wrap-around deck.

I don't think you'll hear a thing from the dining room below you . . . go for Deck 4 and enjoy every square inch of that Neptune!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

l also have been on a deck 4 aft wrap Neptune on other HAL larger ships and never a noise problem - so go for it IMO.

We love the large balconies on some of the aft-wraps.  The three negatives however are 1) a smaller cabin (not much though) for some, long walks to the Neptune Lounge, and sometimes the room stewards are not fully aware of the Neptune "perks"  and Neptune special mailings.

New to HAL.  New Amsterdam.  Neptune Suite 4183 or 8169?  Any advice on Which one woud be favored?

Deck 8 will have the noise of chairs being dragged across the Deck 9 pool area in the mornings and evenings (bedtime).  Balcony has a bit more overhead coverage.

Deck 4 advantages are the short walk down to the MDR, short elevator ride up from the Room Service kitchen (hot eggs for breakfast), sitting on your balcony without any wind, little foot traffic, seeing both sides of the ship for photos/wildlife/scenery, and a short elevator ride up to the Lido Deck 9 for snacks (Lido Buffet and NY Pizza).

Enjoy whatever aft-wrap stateroom you choose.

I recommend the chicken wing appetizers every day at 3:00 PM (Order from the Neptune Suite Concierge).

Honestly, you won't hear anything from the MDR.
I am amongst the few who does not like the Neptune aft wraps - had one for some weeks on the NA, and found most of the time half the deck was unusable due to wind.  Also there is quite a bit of vibration.  I much prefer midship deck 7.

We've had 6 Neptune Suites and our very least favorite was on Deck 4 aft on the Oosterdam. Hated being  so far from the Neptune Lounge, theatre and casino. The suite was much smaller than the regular Neptunes on same deck as Neptune Lounge, but had same amount of furniture and we were always bumping into things. The larger deck didn't make up for the inconvenience at all. Our only Neptune Suite Guarantee (in order to get really cheap casino fare) and we won't be doing that again.

Hate to hear that about the casino Neptune guarantee.  We are doing exactly that in Dec, but on the Nieuw Statendam.  While I would love to get a "normal" Neptune, I feel that for the price we paid we are getting a deal (the Oceanview has the same price without the casino deal), so it is better than that option.

Again, Thanks to all for the responses.  We are going to be in 4183 on the August 28 sailing.  Just recently became aware another question but will start a new topic.

I will be in 8162 on the 14th. It will be my first aft wrap so it will be interesting to see. I think having all that deck for glacier bay will be fantastic. I don’t mind the hike to the Neptune it should help me gain less weight…oh wait the calories don’t count if you are on a ship 🙂

Aft wraps are especially good for Alaska and Panama Canal sailings IMO.  Great views from several directions.

Have you stayed in a Neptune Suite above the gym? We are concerned about the noise?

Above the gym? The Spa Suites or the SCs on some ships? We have had 12 suites (including 2 Pinnacle suites in various locations on ships, never had any noise that was a problem sleeping.

The gyms were opening at 6am, heard that post Covid it may move to 7am. So it might depend on your sleep requirements.
