Drink package upgrade

With the new program (including drink package in fare) I only see two options for upgrading.  One is $30 per person per day and includes $200 to use on excursions.  The other is $60per day per person and it also upgrades your wi-if and provides $400 to use on board.  Formerly I could buy an upgrade to my drink package or pay the difference on an ordered drink.  Is paying the difference still an option?

Yes. I chatted with a Celebrity rep specifically about this.

From the FAQ

How can a guest upgrade from classic beverage package to premium beverage package when they book the Always Included package?

If a guest books their cruise with Always Included package pricing and would like to upgrade their Classic Beverage Package to the Premium Beverage Package, they may do so via our Cruise Planner platform once their booking is within final payment.  The upgrade charge will be $12 per person per day which includes the beverage gratuity.  Guests may not purchase a beverage upgrade before final payment when they book Always Included. Alternatively, guests may also upgrade their beverage package from Classic to Premium once onboard the ship.

Note the there are Captain's Club discounts available (minor, but not zero).

Look at the Drinks Plus More promo.  It upgrades to the premium, $50 Casino credit, daily limited stocked mini fridge, wine tasting, 2 bottle of wine each and etc.  it doesn’t cost much more than upgrading to premium per day.

it cost us $125 pp for a 7day cruise.    The upgrade to premium would have been $84 pp.   The casino credit basically gave our money back on the extra $41 cost and the rest is gravy

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

The upgrade option should show in your Cruise Planner when you log in to the website (not the app).  If you are a Captain's Club Member, you'll get a discount on upgrades.  If  the discount doesn't get applied in the Cruise Planner, you have to call.

If the Cruise Planner isn't showing the upgrade option, then call Celebrity and there is a code they put in that will then have the beverage package show and then you'll have the upgrade option online.

What option do I look under in the Cruise Planner to upgrade to Premium?  Thinking under Beverage Packages.  I have just made final payment and think it may take awhile to see the option.

I just called earlier in the week, and it was $8.50 per day with CC discount. We are before final payment so it was not online.

I’ve called and had to be transferred to an Enhancement rep to get the Elite discount.  Twice I was on hold for 30 minutes before I gave up.  The most recent call I was on hold for two hours before giving up.  Will just upgrade onboard even though I won’t get the discount.

Try calling at off hours and ask for resolutions. I also get Elite discount and although not worth much you are entitled to receive it.  Once onboard try at guest relations and see if the can do it.

I just got off the Apex and had to hold for an hour but they were able to take care of everything.  This is the number I used 1-800-647-2251.  I had tried several others and after holding for over an hour got hung up on and I was not a happy camper.  The person that answered this number was awesome.  BUT  anyone who upgrades needs to know what just happened to us on the Apex.  We had over 2000 passengers and they CLEARLY were not ready to service that many people.  On the very first day they were no longer serving premium wines - which is why I upgrade because I'm a wine brat and don't drink hard liquor.  I went to the sunset bar during sail away and they didn't have it so I thought it was just that particular bar didn't have it - NOPE.  They said oh we have elegance by Kendall Jackson.  Sorry but Kendall Jackson is NOT a premium wine.  It's not awful but definitely not a premium wine. Also they ran out of pina colada mix (hubby drinks those) the second day.  HOW do you run out of pina colada mix on a caribbean cruise??  Definitely weren't ready for so many people.  Sorry for the book!

Really must depend on luck- I called the 2251 number yesterday and got through in less than 5 minutes. Earlier in the week- same thing. No idea what the difference is since I generally don't call on off hours.
