From the RC vaccination FAQ

Accepted Tests

  • There are two common types of diagnostic COVID-19 tests and we accept either type:
    • A molecular test, also called a PCR test or NAAT test
    • An antigen test, also called a rapid antigen test
  • The Abbot ID NOW Rapid Diagnostic test administered by many pharmacies is an acceptable molecular test (but not the Abbot BinaxNow home test, see below for details).

For the sake of clarity, there is an Abbott Binax test that is acceptable. It is the Binax Now AG card test.

Also, according to RCL, to be accepted a rapid antigen test must be administered under the supervision/observation of a qualified provider (like a pharmacy or minute clinic). Doing the test in your home without supervision will not be accepted.

This test is not accepted if self-administered...even if Supervised. Royal changed the language on their website to indicate that it cannot be self-administered. Michael Bayley and a Royal rep on Twitter both confirmed with me this morning.

It's very easy to "cheat  " even if monitored via zoom. Thick Vaseline in the nose, not actually swabbing the sides but still making the face...

vaseline doesn't work in person as it can be seen . But for remote I've even heard of patients have the fingers of surgical gloves shoved up there before they swab so that the are swabbing the glove, not the nasal mucosa.

One lad in Baltimore has glove fingers stuffed up there but he accidentally pulled on out with the little brushes on the swab....oops!

Still listed on the Royal website.

The rapid antigen tests administered here are self administered as well. One just rolls down their car window enough for the tech to pass the swab through, and you do the rest on your own. No difference.

Oops.  Now that they know that will not be allowed either!
