This question has been asked and answered a million times. Would you want to go to a house party full of unvaccinated people for a week or fully vaccinated ? Which do you think gives you a better chance of not catching Covid, getting it severely and it spreading quickly? You should know the answer to your own question by now.

Interestingly, I would never even think to ask whether people are vaxed or unvaxed and we are vaccinated. So, I wouldn't even know how many people in that party were vaxed.

I completely believe that every country has the right to make their own rules for their border and bar unvaccinated people from entering for the safety of their citizens.

Would that every country could be that responsible.

However, it's interesting that the Bahamas will not allow a 95% vaccinated cruise to port in their country when their own country is only 17% vaccinated.

The low vaccination rate in many other countries are exactly why they don't want unvaccinated tourists.  Why expose more of your citizens to unvaccinated people if you don't have to?

The good news out of all of this -- I have never seen cruise fare so low before in my life.  Fully vaccinated can take a 5 day cruise for around $120 in a balcony.  Tempting.  lol

The availability of these cruises at what appears to be "below cost" like this, really calls into question the idea that there are so many people willing to vax up, mask up, and jump on a cruise right now that the cruiselines have no problem "filling" ships.

The rules effectively ban ~50% of the US population because of their medical choices, meanwhile a large number of the eligible 50% has no interest in going back to playing mask theater that they haven't played on land since May.  Yet more of that 50% eligible population, is advised not to sail due to their health conditions.

How many people are actually left that want to cruise in the present situation?

We were on the Horizon in July and it was wonderful.  However, now with testing and mask requirements, cruising is not as appealing.  Most of want a real vacation, not one where we have to wear a mask most everywhere.

I am keeping my Sept. reservation since it is only three nights, and no sea days.  I want to see how intrusive it is before I commit to any of my other reservations.

I hear ya.  It is crazy.  We are ready to go though.  Might go for a 4 day cruise for $39.

$39 doesn't even buy you the formal night steak dinner on land lately, never mind the 3 other dinners, 4 lunches, and 4 breakfasts.  Carnival is losing a ton of money on the fare like this...

Wrong. HIPAA applies to health care provides, health insurance plans, and related industries. It doesn't apply to cruise lines. They can ask if you are vaccinated and they can share the information. What can't happen under HIPAA is if they call your doctor for your information; the doctor can't share it with your consent.

Your Rights Under HIPAA | HHS.gov

Nothing that has been happening with cruise lines requiring covid testing or vaccination proof is HIPAA violations. You are sharing it willing with them and they aren't bound by HIPAA anyway.

Yup, HIPAA is very misunderstood. Especially since it was actually written to make sharing medical information between healthcare providers easier. The privacy part was almost an accident.

The only thing I will add is that if you get sick on board and seek medical help from the cruise lines, then they fall under HIPAA.

Yep.  They will make some money off of the alcohol and casino from me probably.

It does make sense to do this on at least a limited basis. The fixed costs are very high on a cruise ship. Crew costs, port fees, fuel, and insurance don't change significantly based on the number of passengers. I doubt an extra 100 passengers would even notably impact their food costs. They are hoping to make money on alcohol sales, the casino, and whatever other add on's you might buy. They might not make money on having a $39 fare passenger but it may reduce the amount they lose if compared to an empty stateroom.

Good thing that isn't where their bread is buttered. They want adults 21 and older purchasing copious amounts of ridiculously marked up alcohol.

Yeah, I don't buy that. The vast majority of the 5% of exemptions was going to 12 and under (who are still being welcomed to the islands) - I cannot imagine there were more than a dozen or so adults. And I don't also see how this gets squared with the "I want 100% cruises but take me to an island where 8 out of every 10 people are unvaxxed".

I agree that cruises needs to be 100 percent vaccinated and that the vaccine is not 100 percent effective but we still need to err on the side of caution. Remember its YOUR choice to cruise or not and if you want to cruise then you must be willing to follow all the necessary precautions and pre-cruise testing and wearing a mask indoors.

I hope that by early 2022 things will be easier and the requirements of pre-cruise testing and indoor mask wearing will be lifted. By then I hope more children will get vaccinated as hopefully by late Fall or early Winter vaccines will be approved for those under 12.

How are you and the wife enjoying vista? I know you said a regular on princess, first time on carnival because it went out of texas.

Hope your wife is enjoying it.

Yes yet another tightening. Restrictions get ever tighter, not looser.

Enjoying it very much. A very different “vibe” than Princess for sure!! While we prefer the food in general on Princess, Guy’s absolutely DESTROYS  Princess feeble attempt at burgers as does the Vista’s assortment of cakes during lunch!!😋

She’s got her Diet Coke, uh, Pepsi package so she’s happy. 😃

Thanks for asking.

For us, we purposely booked  HMC, GT (well now, Bimini) or Princess Cay itineraries.  Get right off and onto the beach with limited interaction with locals and most interactions would be outdoors.  We will not be going shopping in Nassau or taking organized tours in buses/vans this time.  We are most likely going to stay on board in Nassau and Freeport and enjoy the ship...unless we get a day pass to the Colonial Hilton and we can walk to that.

Idk if they still have it but the last lunch in the buffet one section was devoted to chocolate. Well a few almonds and jellies, but 98% chocolate buffet. If you like cake, go look for it. It's amazing.

And I'm not a big fan of their desserts, but the chocolate buffet is amazing.

So do most vaccinated people really feel this way? They avoid kids because there is a small chance they might get exposed to COVID? What a crazy way to live. I am vaccinated and I don’t spend one minute worrying about who around me is vaccinated or not. To each their own I guess…

It's different in society in general versus being in a confined space on a cruise ship.  With testing being mandatory now 72 hours prior to embarkation is a good thing, but at the same time it is still better to avoid unvaccinated people, and on a Carnival Cruise that would be to avoid kids.

I too hope they add more cheers included fares. I need more incentive.

You luckily got it on two bookings.  It would be nice if the algorithm bestowed it upon a wider range of clientele,  but I am certainly not holding my breath.😤

I got a Cheers offer last week, but as a solo cruiser it's one of the worst deals I can get.
