Tonight was our first Gala Night. There were a few men wearing suit jackets, most were wearing a nice button down shirt with dress pants. Most women wore dresses (ranging from a sun dress style to even sparkly cocktail dresses).

Tonight’s menu:

Thanks for the Great LIVE thread!  Really enjoying it.  We did this cruise in February 2020, only on the Oosterdam.

Wondering if you happen to have a copy of the MDR Gala Night menu?

L.

Just posted it! 😊

We both tried the filet mignon Oscar. We both thought it was very good. Mark thought the portion was too small.

Dessert was Strawberry Romanoff. Light and very good.

Another great report, thank you so much!  I also found the portion sizes in the MDR small on our Alaska trip but I actually liked it because I did not feel at all guilty about ordering extra stuff 😀

Yes!

Lol, that’s okay. After dinner we walked up to the Lido Buffet and he got a second helping. The buffet has most of the same items that are served in the MDR, just in a more casual setting.

He was happy.

We watched a show in the World Stage Theater last night performed by the One Step Dance Company. It was amazing. Very talented dancers and I enjoyed the fun, energetic music. (Artists from Imagine Dragons, to Annie Lennox, to Bruno Mars)

Before the show, they passed out glasses of champagne, screwdrivers, or greyhounds. Then, at the start of the show, the captain came out to “toast the return of cruising” and then introduced many of the ship’s officers.

We all showed our appreciation with thunderous applause and cheers.

Masks were requested in the Theater unless you were actively drinking a beverage. I saw some people leave their masks off the entire time, but many people kept them on once they finished drinking.

After the dance production, we wandered over to B.B. King’s.

The first show after we arrived was a comedian, Jason Russell. He got a few laughs, but we thought he was just, “meh.”

We really came for the music, and thoroughly enjoyed the performance once the comedian was finished.

Our assigned time was 1:00 pm. We arrived shortly after 12:30 pm.

It seemed that quite a few people showed up early. (Earlier than we did.) When we went through, I saw a seating area with signs for different boarding times. For instance, one section said 1:00, another said 1:30, also 2:00. I think if you arrive before the ship is ready, you will probably have to wait with your boarding group until they are ready for you.

I would say that arriving a little early is okay, but do not expect to board early. You may have to wait.

Thanks for the info.  That is what I thought might be happening.  I read on another cruise line thread that boarding times were being ignored, so just wanted to check.  Hope you are enjoying the cruise!

Really enjoying your great and informative review.  Been more than 2 years now since we were on Koningsdam for 20 days in the Med - picture of her in Kotor Bay.  Anyway, I know you have the beverage package, but could you find out what the HH special is these days?  TIA😊

I see that HH is held in the Crow’s Nest and Billboard Onboard. I’ll take a look later today.

I tried one of those Long Island iced teas at the BBKings-wasn’t sure I’d make it back to the cabin, lol.  Since I rarely drink it sure hit me but tasted delicious ☺️

Lol, I do enjoy a LIIT, but they’re strong to start with! If they make any stronger than usual, I’m not sure I could handle it. 😳
