Disappointed in NCL FCC :{(

We are left with $1,000 of FCC to be applied by 12/31/21, have a cruise planned in April 2022, used FCC to pay for all grats and service charges, and shore exscurisions on that cruise, not interested in a second cruise in 2022. We do have a cruise booked in June 2023, and was hoping to apply FCC to that booking....nope, cannot be done. What to do with $1,000.....Cabin upgrade to Haven, or as far as we can go ?. What say you ?

The FCC cannot be applied or used for the following:

  • Amenities - you will need to ask NCL what comprises this other than the cabana and spa services we know are not covered with an FCC
  • Dining/beverage packages that are not part of the Free at Sea program - no additional specialty dining
  • Internet packages that are not part of the Free at Sea program
  • Shore excursions booked while onboard
  • Onboard credit
  • Water/soda packages
  • Bottles of wine
  • Onboard amenities such as: Bottles of wine, bon voyage gifts, celebration or photo packages

The original, full value FCC can be applied and used for the following:

  • Voyage Fare
  • NCFs
  • Government Fees and Taxes
  • Pre-paid service charges
  • Beverage or dining gratuities (if part of the Free at Sea promotion selection)
  • Restricted air purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Hotel purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Cruise tours purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Pre-booked and pre-paid shore excursions
  • Transfers
  • Essentials, Booksafe Standard or Platinum Travel Protection insurance
  • Thanks 1

We had a large amount of FCC as well and decided to go as high as we could with the cabin so we are in Haven and all excursions paid, etc…problem we now have is we cancelled an excursion to book a different one and when we did that our FCC credit went into limbo. I am now fighting with NCL as our cruise is in 29 days.

OK, what I am about to share with you is what I have actually done for my November 27, 2021 Joy cruise.  This is what I used my FCC for:

  1. Upgrade of 250 Internet minutes to Unlimited Streaming.
  2. Unlimited Streaming for two devices
  3. Upgrade from Premium Drink Package to Premium Plus Drink Package
  4. Excursions

I am not saying you would do the same thing.  Just wanted you to know what I actually did.  I hope it is helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions. We decided to try and bump up to the next Cabin catagory as long as we can get a Cabin nearby for our friends we are cruising with, if not, we'll figure something out.

I am pretty sure as long as you BOOK a cruise by 12/31/21 and apply the $1000 towards the cruise as say a deposit you can book any date you want. Could someone please confirm this for the OP.

As long as the cruise sails on or before Dec 31, 2022.

Good Luck Beer Belly. We are so frustrated with NCL and FCC (scam) that we vow never to cruise with NCL again. We are leaving our money on the table and calling it a day as dealing with NCl is too frustrating. You should be able to apply your FCC money any way you "need" as it's your money.

Hope things work out.

Hmmm...  Very first posting on the CC NCL thread and already you "vow never to cruise with NCL again."  Something is NKR about your post.  If you are leaving behind, why not transfer your FCC to someone still sailing with NCL?

NCL is FARRRRR more generous/liberal with FCC application compared to their peers. If it had been Royal, Celebrity, Princess, Holland, etc their FCC can ONLY be applied to base fare before taxes. It cannot be applied to anything else and unused portion is forfeit if not used for another cruise or additional base fare on a higher category room.  NCL allow it to be used towards taxes,feee@sea gratuities, standard gratuities (daily service charge), airfare, transfers, hotel packages, shore excursions, beverage package upgrades, internet upgrades, and the list goes on.

Work with your friends.  Use (sell) the FCC to your friends to apply to their cruise.

You most certainly can transfer FCC 1 time.  You can also sell it - there is a social media group specifically setup to do so, going rate seems to be about 75% of face value.

That could be a win-win for those who have FCC left (that can't use) and anyone who have balances left on 2022 cruises.  I should try and find that group before I pay off my PC cruise this month!

Yea, I'm thinking the same, although there is a current thread from someone who got burned and is still fighting with pay pal to get their money -the buyer reversed the transaction after getting the credits in their NCL account.

I talked to NCL, and my TA, cannot tranfer, or gift to a friend, or sell FCC.....I wish I knew how people get it done. If I could I would put it towards our 2023 cruise.
