WHAT WAS MISSING FROM OUR LIVES BACK IN 2020

No, not fishing boats

Harbors were still doing their jobs

I'm talking about cruise ships and ferries...

If you have trouble reading the ship names just click on the photo and it will get full-size. Then X out.

Thank me later.

I am just hoping that my link on Princess will get bumped up so that this gets discovered before I finish. I plan a link on the X board too as I got my highest reads there and had regular readers who were a lot of fun.

LOL.  Crystal has been spreading the word on your behalf.  You should be good for a million hits.  I ran across your cruise review to Cuba and knew I would be in for another treat when she mentioned it on Dani's board.

Thanks so much for your hint to click on the photos.  Wow, what a difference it makes, so much more detail!  I almost felt like I was there.  We were supposed to do a big family vacation last year for my MIL's 75th.  Sadly her 76th birthday came and went and we sat at home again.  Hoping next year will be the year!

Guidebook Carol feels she must step in here. This is the Sant'Ignazio church, a gorgeous Baroque structure famous for its trompe-l'oeil (fake) dome.

Ladies and Gentlemen- one of us is called Guidebook Carol and the other is someone who wings it...

You had me at "bupkuss" with an Irish accent 😉

Alas Dani as you'll hear in my sailaway video coming up I don't have a strong accent anymore. Modified by years living in London, Noo Joisey and Chicaaaago.

As I said in post # 48, I would love to meet you Norris, some day.  We are both Irish.  I couldn't believe it when I read this AM that you are in cabin (er stateroom) 7116.  We have booked that cabin for 3 of our 4 cruises.   It was already gone for the Norway Intensive July 25 which will be our first Azamara sailing. I can't wait to sail in the Suez in 7016.

I really look forward to anything you can tell us about the cabin.  Can you still see the wake sitting down on the balcony or is it obscured by the solid railing?  TIA

Thank you.  I had read about this church years ago in anticipation of our trip last year.  Now I know what to look for when I drag my husband to "another" church.

TeaBag I will  put some pics up soon of 7116. I haven't seen them since I took them which is true of all the pics- I look at them before I post them. There's over 1,000 so some are real surprises. Carol sees them for the first time on CC.

I would say no to looking at the wake over the partition unless the ship is going fast and the wake trails back a long way. If it's the case I recommend standing with a strawberry daiquiri at the railing.

Suez in 7016? Is that using a Jewish calendar? Oh, not the year but the cabin 7116. Oops!

Norway Intensive with Az? We did just the Fjords with Celebrity (see my signature) and that was mind blowing. Azamara will absolutely increase the pleasure  by a big margin!

Love your Irish sense of humor, Norris.  Sorry I meant 7116 not 7016.  We had thought you wouldn't be able to see the full wake sitting down.  So yes, lovely recommendation standing at the railing with the strawberry daiquiri and what in the other hand?

We were booked on Silhouette for the Norway Fjords and Iceland/Ireland B2B and Celebrity cancelled them both.  Bah.  The Norway one included Gerainger and Flam, neither of which are on the Azamara itinerary.

Ha!  I can attest to the fact that he doesn't have much of an Irish accent any more.  But still more Ireland than Chicago or New Jersey.

You guys are too funny!  I agree Dani that Gerainger and Flam should be on every Norway cruise.  I have a bit of a confession.  When I booked the Norway one I read Stavenger as Gerainger!  Must have been too late at night!

I did detect a little of the Northern Ireland accent in Norriss' video.

EMBARKATION DAY?

Another lovely bright morning in the square. We've had our breakfast (colazione) in the little cosy buffet in the hotel. I ate little. Back in the room I was out on the balcony and noticing extra Carabinieri in the piazza, machine guns at their side(not shown this photo)

51668516734_8a6ac5db27_b.thumb.jpg.1b297f7a64d6675508a3504de2956aa1.jpg

The phone rang and Carol answered it. It was Valentina. My luggage had arrived on the Newark flight!

I emailed Jany at Rome in Limo and asked if we could have the driver come at 1 pm not 2 and offered an extra 50E if he could stop at the airport before the port? No problem was her emailed response within minutes of mine.

What a relief!

Now we could go get our extra Eustachio coffee fix to celebrate.

The view from our coffee seats. That's a Carabinieri post hut. It controls those metal bollards as that is a state building (flag hanging in the no-breeze) When the guard allows a car through the bollards disappear into the cobbles to let it pass. Ingenious!

Our last coffee and a farewell to Mario

Bravo to having your luggage located.  I’m curious and perhaps you mentioned this but did the app advise on which flights your luggage was on at anytime?  I stalk the app until I see my luggage shows being loaded onto flights. Also, worrywart cross packer here as well.

thank you for posting this review.

I'm just stepping out of the Apple weeds for a moment (latent typing, spinning beachball, had to shut it off at the power) to say that Flam (Pronounced FLOM) features in my Silhouette Norway review. Yes we took the train back from Voss (pronounced Voss). Lovely spot!

Also I haven't been home to Northern Ireland since 2003 but when I am I have to tune my ear to the speech and modifying some words to be better understood.  "The rain in Spain" sounds way different.

As an aside and an insight into my current world of pain-it took 2 hours to get that video into my laptop and from there into a file and from there up to Youtube. I need a raise! Two hours when I was silenced from CC.

Oh the Humanity!

I found a cruise that stops at both on the rccl jewel next year.  It’s on my cruise bucket list.

You'd have to ask Carol about apps. She uses a phone. I have one but have no idea what its for. If a call comes in I just bury the phone under a cushion until it goes silent.

Have you seen the Azamara app? Good grief! It only works for the Pursuit last time I looked and it isn't even at sea yet as I understand from the Future Cruise man on Quest.

Yes, haven’t booked it yet.  Waiting to see how international travel goes next year.

There is another one, "one of a kind" I call it, which reaches the Arctic Circle, June 20th. No Geiranger, though....😢

Amsterdam, Molde, Arctic Circle, Tromso, Honningsvag, Alesund, Flaam, Kristiansand, Amsterdam

Now if that had the Lofoten Islands I'd be all over it! Lofoten or bust!
