Flygirl1999 Posted December 17, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2021 Hi, Does anyone know what the limit is regarding duty free alcohol on B2B cruises? Meaning if we finish our 1st cruise and purchased 2 bottles of Rum then clear customs at the end of the 1st cruise, then re-board for the 2nd cruise with those 2 bottles (knowing they will be "held" for us) then purchase 2 more bottles on the 2nd cruise would all 4 count on the next visit to customs? Thanks!
gcelkk Posted December 17, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2021 If confronted, don't lie to customs if ask. The duty is minimal. Customs seems to be more concerned about food brought ashore.
1025cruise Posted December 17, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2021 The fact that you are on a B2B doesn't change the customs requirements. You won't actually go through customs until you debark. During turnaround you are considered intransit. You do need to see an immigration officer, but that is just a formality so they can 0 down the ship. Thanks! In most cases, your belongings, including alcohol will stay on board in your cabin. ( or be moved to your new cabin if you have the change cabins). There will be nothing to declare. In Port Canaveral, face recognition is used, there is no custom declaration form and you don't present yourself to any customs agent. Don't know how to handle extra bottles. If you have to move cabins, you might as well wait to the second leg to purchase your rum as it will be less move. Don't think B2B makes any difference in regards to want comes back to the country. Rare twangster Posted December 17, 2021 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2021 Customs and immigrations are two separate functions performed by CBP. On a B2B during the first B2B turn around you are processed for immigration purposes. You do not bring your possessions with you to be processed for customs purposes during the B2B process. The customs processing is handled at the conclusion of your combined voyage. If your cruise is operating from a port that has facial recognition and you have a US passport you don't interact with a CBP official unless there is an issue.
