They don't make as much money leaving from the UK.Because people from the UK are not known to gamble like Americans🙄

Australia has the same non-smoking rules and they are number 2 in the world at per capita gambling revenue and 80% of the population gambles (Source: casino dot org). 32% of the UK population gambles. That's actual sourced data, not just blowing smoke. (US statistics are much more complex due to the wide range of restrictions from Nevada, New Jersey and New York to Hawai'i and Utah).

We do like to party here 🎉 😁

Yes no smoking in casinos on land or at sea. I definitely don’t spend as much time (or $$$) in smoky casinos, even when in Vegas.

That's not all though -- they also donate a lot of stinky secondary smoke -- spread covid through their nasty smoke -- and drive away many other people who would spend even much more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ROTFLMAO

Well non smokers had the chance the last few months to show RC how much you spend in the casino,We have been on a few cruises since the no smoking ban was put in and the casino was empty every night by 11pm.RC does not care about non smokers they care about MONEY.And the FACT is smokers spend much more money.ROTFLMAO🤣

Good point. I know people talk about gambling more, but they don't mention what their current gambling budget is, and what it will expand to with a non-smoking casino. If someone is currently playing $50/night, and they expand their budget to spend $100/night, that is not a huge revenue increase.

RC could care less about people that spend $50-$100 a night,They card about people that spend $50 in 5 min and put another $50 in,not get up and leave

It's unfortunate that RC doesn't take some of the money you donate to them and upgrade their ventilation system to keep the stench from leaving the casino and into other venues. Only speaking for myself and my wife we don't gamble, no reason for us to be in the casino and we have no issues walking out our way to avoid going thru the casino to to avoid the stench and to get to where we are going. Based on everything you said you then would have no objections if RC had a policy in place that would not allow smoking in the casino when the casino is closed? No reason for smokers to be in the casino using it as a smoking lounge as some do and will continually to do.

And other lines under the RCG umbrella group operate smoke free casinos quite profitably. RCL sails smoke free when embarking from European and Australian ports and do just fine.

This will be a permanent policy shift, the number of smokers is steadily dropping, and the number of non smokers calling for the change is growing exponentially.  You are right, it IS all about the money, smokers do not have that pull any longer.

I guess you are wrong again!🙄

I don't care that people smoke in the casino. I spend my $6 worth of free credit and bail. It is just an issue to me when the smoke filters out into non-smoking public areas like the Radiance class.

This is why it will never be non smoking🙄

I remember hearing that years ago concerning smoking on balconies, connoisseur club. Gone. Heard that same argument years ago concerning smoking in the casinos on Celebrity ships. Gone. We took a cruise on Holland in 2001 and at that time there was a section of tables in the back of the MDR that allowed smoking. Gone. 🤣

If you or your wife do not gamble,Why do you care so much about what go's on in the casino when it is closed? And if RC don't care why do you?If i was a non smoker and the smell bothered me that much i would find a new cruise line to spend my money with,Not continue to cruise with them and then come on here and complain.🙄

Gambling has nothing to to with my comment about when the casino is shut down. I already told you what we do when the casino is open for business. Why not answer the question concerning how you would feel personally if the casinos were shut down to smokers when the casino wasn't open for gambling. But then again you really don't need to answer that if I read between the lines from this post. Because I have the right to voice my opinion on this forum as well as to RC. There are a lot of positives cruising with RC that keep us coming back and to the RCG.

I find it very hard to believe that the 14% of people over 18 who smoke in the US, spend more in the casino than the 86% of passengers that don't smoke.  The ships are not running on full capacity and there are people who didn't know the casinos were non-smoking for a brief period.  Any revenue analysis during this time period would not be accurate, IMO.  One thing is for sure, on some ships the covid spread originated in the casino.

Your assumption is incorrect. I'm not stressing or worrying over anything and especially you. I'm just voicing my opinion.

I said that same thing when I smoked and also said I could quit anytime I wanted. When I finally did quit over 31 years ago after smoking for over 26 years I did it cold turkey. Easy. No aids in helping me. Best thing I ever did and I've never had the desire to light up again.

Youngster. I'm older than you and bet (see how I stayed on topic there, 😁) I'm in better shape than you. But neither of us can prove either wrong. :classic_rolleyes:

I am both a gambler and a smoker.  My usual haunt for gambling is Vegas.  Park MGM went non-smoking and having been there a few times since I can way that foot traffic is down.  Is it caused by non-smoking.  Not sure.  Personally I feel MGM just buggered up the property (sorry about the mini-derail).

Our very first cruise was Jan 20 through 28 on Enchantment.  Now pax count was way low, but I did speak to a number of fellow gamblers and smokers.  With a pax count that low it was very easy to meet the same people frequently.  Only 1 of them mentioned that they would gamble less due to non-smoking in the casino.  Many of the others were somewhat indifferent about it (me included).  My wife mentioned many times how much nicer it was in the casino being non-smoking (she is a non-smoker).

I can fully understand how this debate gets so heated believe me.  On that cruise I did say to my wife that I personally felt that as soon as RCCL could they would repeal this decision.  Even she agreed that likely yes they would.  I also have to wonder if this helped give RCCL some real world data on going this way without much blowback as they could shield themselves in Covid.  I guess we know how that panned out.

I do feel sooner or later many more land based casinos and/or cruiselines will go this way.  When that actually will be is anyone's guess.

I too was looking forward to a no smoking casino in March on the Anthem.  So my husband and I will now not be going to the casino if it is back to smoking.  So they absolutely lose people who would gamble and those diehard gamblers will play whether they smoke or not.  I know quite a few that would gamble a lot more if they weren't chased out of the casino by the smoke.

So at least now I know I don't need as much spending money.
