A Canadian takes on a S2B2B on Oasis 1/2/22, Odyssey 1/9/22 & 1/15/22 (hopefully)

So sorry to hear about Pauls test. Nice to see you making lemonade out of lemonade, though. We have been following since we are doing a B2B on NCL in February, then a week in Florida and boarding the Odyssey on March 12. We are driving down to limit our contacts but our biggest fear is what happened to you guys, catching it on one cruise forcing us to miss the next. Hopefully NCL handles it as well as Royal did for you.

Good luck with the future testing and getting home.

Tony and Debbie

Our perfect day is no so perfect.   Wind was at 30-35 knots so could not dock at coco cay.  allure came in earlier and they were able to dock but have not yet been able to let anyone off the ship as waves are coming over pier and it is not safe.  Captain Pere is in contact with the island and captain of Allure and if the situation changes in the next hour, we will dock for a half day but if not we will have a day at sea.

Well crap I just found a $49 casino slip.  Time to call guest services to see what I am supposed to do with that.  They should start an online casino for all of us quarantined folks.  They would make up some of the $$ they are losing!! 🤣

I’m so sorry this happened to you especially since you had others joining you for your 3rd cruise.  I’m so glad you found out before their flights.

Thanks for posting about your quarantine experience both on and off the ship.  I wish you the best!

……………………………………………………...

I have been terrified of this happening on our upcoming B2B.  Our second cruise is a special group cruise and is our whole reason for going.

Our group cruise was postponed from 2021.  We booked the 2022 B2B during the shut down, before testing protocols were announced.  If we had known about the testing, we would have booked our group cruise as the first leg of our B2B.

We are staying in the same cabin and both cruises are 7 nights.  Our group cruise cost 4 times more than our first cruise because we have special group events.  That illustrates how important the group cruise is to us.  Our airfare was crazy expensive.  We never would have paid that much to fly for a regular cruise.

We are flying in 2 days early.  I also worry about Royal cancelling our sailings AFTER we get on our first flight.

Ugh, I hate thinking about this!

Leave it at the front desk at the Embassy suites and I will grab it on the 28th.  I will send you a check for 49.00 Canadian or 12.00 dollars.😉

Uncertain times.  It is so hard to give up on it.  You never know if it will happen again and yet you cant be certain it will be without hiccups.  Damned if you do damned if you dont.

Exactly!  I spend a huge amount of time customizing things for us to use/wear on the group cruise.  I’m afraid to start making them because it would be an extra guy punch if Royal cancels our sailings.  It’s also possible that the group cruise organizers will decide to postpone it again.  So much uncertainty.

As a Canadian that will be traveling on the 30th to Cape Liberty for the Anthem sailing, this gives me a lot to think about. I didn't realize they were cutting the time down to 10 days to get back into the country. Also, seeing how much Royal is covering is tremendous and puts me a bit at ease.

I'm on the 11 February Anthem sailing, and there's been a bunch of chatter on our roll call and other sites about Canadians traveling down for the trip.

While I can't make that decision for you, as an American, one thing I'd really recommend is that you have *super good* travel insurance, in case you test positive and require medical care in the States. Even a minor-issue ER visit in the US has the potential to cost far more than your cruise fare.

I got up this morning to an email from Air Transat cancelling our March 19 flights to Fort Lauderdale, and they were direct flights too 😞

So, we are on the fence if we should cancel Odyssey (March 20-26), or just go 🤷‍♂️

I'm pretty sure that should be $49 US or $10,000 Canadian. 🤣

My only advice is try your best to be super careful on the first cruise. Try to social distance, maybe skip shows, get good masks like n95 or kn95 and wear them as much as possible when around people.

Thank you for your advice.  We will be as careful as we can.  We also have 2 flights each way which means more exposure.  Airlines have been canceling lots of flights, so that’s another thing that can go wrong.

We are religious about wearing masks.  We are retired, so we don’t go out much (which our dogs love 🐾❤️)

We’ve never eaten out since Covid (but we rarely ate out anyway since I’m gluten free.) I assume the dining room is a hot spot since it doesn’t sound like they space people out very well.

It’s mind boggling thinking of all the different things that can go wrong with this trip.

I wish the best for all of us 🛳❤️🏝

If I remember correctly, is the second of your b2b, the sailing you become P?

If so, congrats and fully understand your anxieties...agree with vacationlover_mn, be careful during the first cruise.

No, we’re not close to becoming P.

We are top tier on a different cruise line. We’ve been taking more Royal cruises the last bunch of years because we love our group cruise which goes on Royal.

We like B2Bs.  We had been taking our add-on cruise on different lines (S2S.) This time we decided to enjoy the simplicity of B2B in the same cabin.  I’m so glad we did.  Our upcoming B2B has enough complexity!

Thanks, it sure will be nice when we can start living with the virus instead of existing with the virus 🙂

Ugh I am so sorry!!  We went through a panic mode before we left when Westjet messed with our flights too.  I hope it works out for you.  It really is a lovely ship

Thanks, I appreciate that, but, I think you have more important things to be thinking about than I do, you are in the middle of it. Did you get a PCR test today? So hoping you continue to be negative, thinking happy thoughts 🙂
