I would suggest changing your flight to Ft Lauderdale airport and hotel then you will be minutes away from the port.  Traffic around Miami is bad.

Can you fly from England to Ft Lauderdale?...what airline?

The answer is yes!  Flying into south Florida is just like flying into London: Heathrow or Gatwick.  Direct flights from LHR to FLL are scarce, but the airports are 35 minutes distant by taxi or coach.  If cruising pout of Port Everglades its more convenient, and likely less expensive, to stay to overnight in the Fort Lauderdale/Dania Beach area.

what airlines fly from England to FLL direct?....that is my point. Someone suggested to the OP that they should fly to FLL instead of MIA

They are staying in North Ft. Lauderdale on the strip (Highway A1A) just north of Port Everglade.  It will take much longer to get to the hotel if flying into Miami then to get to the Port.

If at all possible, try to find a flight into Ft. Lauderdale airport and you will be 20 minutes from the hotel and then the next day 20 minutes from Port Everglades.

Assuming you are flying from UK. Also assume you are booking on your own. Miami airport to Ocean Beach Club, Ft. Lauderdale about 45 mins reasonable traffic, about $80 by taxi. OBC to port, 30 mins.

If you are arriving in the afternoon, suggest Embassy Suites or other hotels along SE 17th St. These are 5 mins to port.

IMO, since arriving ahead of the cruise date, it is much less important for distance to hotel from MIA than it is from hotel to Port Everglades.  I would want a hotel close to the port for convenience.  Perhaps the OP is getting a much better airfare to fly into MIA.  A longer commute to the hotel does add to the cost of ground transportation (taxi, UBER), but might save $$ still.
