holidayhelen Posted January 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2022 We have a cruise booked for Dec 2022. We fly to Miami, overnight in Ocean Beach Club - just wondering where we will embark ship - is it far? We need to sort out a transfer - 4 adults - will it be easy to arrange. Thank you for any help

Jadn13 Posted January 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2022 From Miami-Ft Lauderdale Is 35 mins in low traffic Ocean Beach Club Ft Lauderdale is 25 mins to Port Everglades
chrysalis Posted January 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2022 from their website..... Parking and transportation available, at a nominal charge, to and from Fort Lauderdale Airport and drop off at Port Everglades, the hotel is a perfect stop-over for cruise vacationers! deliver42 Posted January 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2022 The Concierge at the Ocean Beach Club should be able to arrange transfers. I don't know how far it is to the port.
avonlady6390 Posted January 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2022 I would suggest changing your flight to Ft Lauderdale airport and hotel then you will be minutes away from the port. Traffic around Miami is bad.

Flying into south Florida is just like flying into London: Heathrow or Gatwick. Direct flights from LHR to FLL are scarce, but the airports are 35 minutes distant by taxi or coach. If cruising pout of Port Everglades its more convenient, and likely less expensive, to stay to overnight in the Fort Lauderdale/Dania Beach area. Someone suggested to the OP that they should fly to FLL instead of MIA
famski740 Posted January 8, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2022 They are staying in North Ft. Lauderdale on the strip (Highway A1A) just north of Port Everglade. It will take much longer to get to the hotel if flying into Miami then to get to the Port. If at all possible, try to find a flight into Ft. Lauderdale airport and you will be 20 minutes from the hotel and then the next day 20 minutes from Port Everglades.

skynight Posted January 8, 2022 #13 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Assuming you are flying from UK. Also assume you are booking on your own. Miami airport to Ocean Beach Club, Ft. Lauderdale about 45 mins reasonable traffic, about $80 by taxi. OBC to port, 30 mins. If you are arriving in the afternoon, suggest Embassy Suites or other hotels along SE 17th St. These are 5 mins to port.
Steelers36 Posted January 8, 2022 #14 Share Posted January 8, 2022 IMO, since arriving ahead of the cruise date, it is much less important for distance to hotel from MIA than it is from hotel to Port Everglades. I would want a hotel close to the port for convenience. Perhaps the OP is getting a much better airfare to fly into MIA. A longer commute to the hotel does add to the cost of ground transportation (taxi, UBER), but might save $$ still.
holidayhelen Posted January 10, 2022 Author #15 Share Posted January 10, 2022 Thanks for all your help. We are flying from UK. The flight and hotel is part of a cruise package. The flight cannot be changed but I may try and change hotel to something nearer to the port. Thanks again
