Is there still sushi every night at  the Terrace? Is there a selection of nigiri and rolls? Will they make a custom hand roll? What raw fish is being used?

Sushi and a cocktail for happy hour before going to dinner is my daily routine on Oceania cruises.

Yes - primarily tuna and salmon, with some cooked shrimp.  Nigiri, sashimi, and rolls - the rolls are mostly California, and usually some other special roll.  I don't know about custom rolls, never thought to ask but it didn't look like they were setup to do that at the station.

No custom rolls and I don’t know how anyone could get sushi from Terrace Café during the 5-6 pm ship’s “happy hour” time.

I would assume it's a self-defined happy hour during the beginning of Terrace dinner service, with a later dinner at another venue.

It's my personal happy hour. Eating all the sushi I want  makes me very very happy.🍣

Your view and mine.  You deserve more!....but it does look like you have a beautiful place 🙂

Thanks! Snow has stopped now but it took my husband over an hour to use the snow blower to clear our very short driveway.  Even if we had to be quarantined on the ship, it would beat that.  Nothing we love better than to sit out on the balcony on the ship and watch the ocean!

This is true, but it was still a cut above the "sushi" I've experienced on Princess and Celebrity.

I was on Celebrity in December and there was no sushi anywhere at any dining venue other than at Sushi on 5 which I did not eat at due to the extra charge.

"Carry on my wayward Son"

Kansas. Released in 1976 (without the "my") and was their first top 40 hit.  Bringing me back to my youth 🙂

We should have stopped talking about cruise stuff last night and compared notes about Pine Knob, Cobo and the Joe 😂

And, bless the lord, it's name is Pine Knob once again.

Any comments regarding your first port of Puerta Plata and its newly built and opened cruise terminal? Oceania has put this port on many of its Caribbean itineraries going forward. I have vacationed many times at AI resorts in Punta Cana on its splendid Bavaro Beach and was looking forward to checking out this new to Oceania port and its beaches.

@FlatbushFlyer To allay your seedy roll fears, the rolls on the Dec 13, 2021 (last no-masks for passengers onboard cruise) Riviera cruise looked like first pic. The second pic looks, well, yuck and is hopefully a short term byproduct of current circumstances. We ate a lot of bread on the cruise and that sad specimen would not have made the cut. I guess I could always make it up with more dessert 😄

Did you port today?
Any explanation about casino, entertainment…..have these people become ill?

Thanks for info.

These are fair questions.

We now have day 5 of Currents with tomorrow's schedule so here are the facts:

Bellissimo String Quartet played every day on Jan. 4 cruise. Not scheduled today or tomorrow.

Sync Session party band pool deck and Horizons absent as well. Played every night on Jan 4 cruise. Not scheduled tomorrow.

1st Riviera Production show last night was cancelled. (Or postponed whichever one prefers)  All 4 shows went as scheduled on Jan 4 cruise.  Tomorrow night the Riviera Lounge is playing a movie.

Riviera Show Band has been playing daily like Jan 4 cruise.

Pianist has been playing daily like Jan 4 cruise.

Slots and tables show closed again tomorrow. Ran as scheduled on Jan 4 cruise.

I can't say if they are ill or not.  This is a huge difference in entertainment from the Jan 4 cruise for sure.

Today was a Sea day tomorrow St. Maarten.

Agree with latest post from nymich. We were on Jan 4 cruise and current cruise. Obvious differences between the two cruises. On current cruise there are obvious issues. No sign of Oceania entertainers and Riviera band. Paul the cruise director scheduled to do all on board activities tomorrow. No support from his other colleagues. Sync session musicians, who did pool parties and horizons have not been seen for 3 days. Told they will be back in 5 days time. Draw your own conclusions.

Cruise going well apart from lack of entertainment and musicians. Horizons at 10.30 just the juke box!

Still good to be here!

Good catch on that one.  Looked at the Currents and it does seem bare.

Last cruise it said Afternoon Tea with Bellissimo String Quartet now it just says Afternoon Tea.

BTW we had a nice visit tonight with OP macaroni out on the Terrace aft.  We had some good laughs out there!

Thanks Baz-t and Nymich for comparisons between your cruises.  It is quite obvious what has transpired among the staff. Disappointed in Oceania not addressing obvious omissions  on the cruise. I’m aware of the contract, however, the product offered is a far cry from the norm. At the least, a FCC and an apology is warranted.
I completely understand that passengers who left cold and snowy cities and/or haven’t cruised in 2 years are still enjoying being on the ship.  Our 12/3 cruise was excellent. We felt the quality of entertainment was by far the best of our 15 O cruises.
We’re scheduled for 2/7 cruise…..guess entertainers will be back by then?
