Oasis Chartered Cruise During Covid…Do they have to Follow the same Covid Protocols?

@D4, @zeroed's comments are correct. I can't post those videos here, but I can confirm it is accurate, and they even have a "Dick Deck." There was a lot of backlash from the community regarding the New York Times article, especially the first quote in the article, but it is accurate. However, not everyone attending the cruise participates in these types of activities.

Last night, Atlantis offered us a full travel credit, and we are allowed to cancel our sailing on the Norwegian Pearl, which is set to depart next Friday. Some persistence and pressure from the press pay off.

Here are some media from the White party last night in the Solarium.

I saw a picture on social media that showed someone sleeping in a real bed that’s roped off in the promenade area ( by the black car / casino royale sign). Have you seen that?  I am just curious if that’s a publicity stunt or someone is actually sleeping in that area?

Thankfully the cruise is ending and everyone following along here can worry about the things they encounter daily.  Do you ever wonder how often the escalator hand rail is disinfected at the mall, or the elevator buttons, etc… Did someone have sex in the hotel or rental care you were last in?  So many thing to worry about.

Actually- yes, yes, yes and yes, even pre-Covid 🙂

Hmmm…a bed on the promenade of a that cruise….yeah that was for sleeping.  I’m sure there wasn’t a for sex show on the promenade.  There’s no way the captain would allow that.

Wait…what?

Looks like they all had a relatively good time, despite some of the comments on here.  Perhaps they'll be more interested if following along next time.

From the photos it looks like they did. Maybe @orangelimewould do a live review next go around.  Pearls will be clutched by some, but eyes have been partially opened from what they have shared so far.

I think mine might have gone beyond 'wide-open' for a moment or two...

There seem to be two sources of shock factor going on here.

1) Those who are shocked by what is going on during the Atlantis charter as it pertains to distancing, Covid, and the impact on future cruises.

2)And then those are who are shocked by the public nudity, drug use, public sex acts, etc.

The latter has been going on for years and years on various charters by nudist, swinger, and LGBT charter groups. It’s very likely that we have all been on a ship shortly thereafter and either didn’t know what had previously occurred in these areas and were thereby unbothered 😂

They have another charter with Norwegian next week. They have been in business for over 30 years now with multiple charters a year. If someone is looking for a ship that Atlantis hasn't chartered then that will greatly limit their choice.

Hahaha...the assault weapons appear to be blow up toys, similar to the plastic pool/beach toys that people bring onboard...lol.  There's a picture of one in in the beginning of this post.

They are just commando wannabes.

Wait…what?

I wish I could find that picture and take a screenshot or if someone out there that is a better sleuth that can find it.  It actually is a bed with a night stand and someone was under a blanket sleeping.  I thought that was wild… well wild in the sense that someone was sleeping in the promenade.

I think some here are under the impression that this was just a gay cruise of mostly guys like the friendly and fashionable fun loving man they work with. It isn’t. Please don’t take my word though. Go to twitter and search if you dare. You’ve been warned though.

You sound like a 1970's housewife that used to think their "funny" hairdresser was adorable.  I suggest you worry less about what others are doing on their vacation and more about yourself.  Check Matthew 7:1 for reference.

I'm sure there was a lot of pearl clutching onboard this past week too...oh wait, sorry, those were just pearl necklaces onboard lol

Nothing I’ve seen or read surprises me,

but you don’t have to be a prude or totally naive to be more than a bit shocked at what goes on on a cruise like this.

On normal cruises you don’t see some of these “activities” all over the ship in public spaces and you don’t have tons of “drug mules” sneaking on drugs or see passengers ingesting illegal drugs all over the place.  Add to that the sexuality of this charter isn’t the same as the dominant majority of the population.  That alone shocks a lot of people.

Combined and in such open and public spaces, this is going to shock even some who have supposedly “seen it all” in their lifetime.  Of course, no one is forcing one to look at pictures or videos posted

on social media. So if they do feel shocked, they have whatever shock they feel coming and they may well regret searching it out.

I for one have no interest in looking up videos or pictures on other websites for numerous reasons.  One of which is that it isn’t really my business and I don’t want to see nor do I care what they are doing.  It’s their life,  not mine.  And this has nothing to do with their sexuality.  .

There’s a huge difference between what takes place behind closed doors in someone’s cabin and what took place in the PUBLIC areas of the ship where families eat and children play.   Location, location, location.

All under the watchful eye of the ship’s cameras, security staff, officers and captain who did     nothing.

They do nothing because this is NORMAL for this charter. It happens EVERY year, the captain, staff, and RCG know exactly what is going to happen. You need to relax and let people live their chosen lives; it is having ZERO effect on you.

There are no public areas of the ship right now. The entire ship is "behind closed doors." Instead of a couple people getting together and renting a room where they can be intimate together, 5000 people got together and rented the entire ship so they could be intimate together. There are no families on board, no children playing, this is one group doing what it wants, in the private areas that they paid for, just like any other cruise. This cruise, their private areas just happen to be everywhere. (double entendre intended.)

If you are worried about the area not being cleaned well enough, or somehow being defiled... well, if you been cruising any decent amount, you've already been on a ship that had this happen to it. It's never actually caused a problem before, the only thing that has changed is how you feel about it.. which is a you problem.

All that said, it's highly disrespectful of their crew and the upcoming cruisers that Royal isn't enforcing the covid safety standards that crew believed were in place for cruising when they signed up for their contracts. Everything else here has been happening for decades. The pandemic, and the risk it poses to the crew, is new, and didn't disappear for this charter cruise, so the rules about the pandemic shouldn't have either.

It is difficult to imagine a worse place to quarantine and house infected and ill employees than in the bowels of the ship where they are forced to breath recirculated air which is inhaled and exhaled by over 1,500 other infected crew employees. This is what Royal is doing with their quarantine ships. 2 of them are now completely full. Thousands of infected employees. Royal just cares about the bottom line.

Wow! You sound just like Jim Walker and have even quoted him !

I know that you are desperately doing damage control.

However, there is a serious PR damage to the company, the organisers and participants. Yes, there will be many infections from this trip. Each infection causes a ripple. No one can know how far that ripple spreads and who it touches.

https://www.nbcboston.com/news/coronavirus/biogen-conference-in-boston-now-tied-to-more-than-300000-coronavirus-cases/2254941/

It is possible that the CDC requests a mass testing of pax. The NCL Breakaway has a single omicron case on board. Before debarking in NO, the ship had a mass testing of pax. Doubled the positive cases on board.

The truth will be known.

I am not being snarky- they tested every passenger and it doubled from one positive to two?

And if the positivity rate is low compared to other voyages, it'll be interesting how many disappointed cc'ers there are.  If that's the case, we'll unfortunately never know that number either.

RCL is giving out "Dear Guest" letters in your state room which includes the positivity rate from the prior cruise.

I have seen at least 4 in active /recent reviews and more on the book of faces.

Does anyone really believe that statement? Not possible.

If Royal truly believed those numbers (the capacity being what it was and no masking in crowded outdoor space where social distancing is not possible) they would not have extended the updated protocol by another 2 weeks and delay the next sailing by 2 hours.  The number is dependent upon self reporting and self testing and I think I saw a post that someone posted in the thread to not say anything so I believe that number as much as I believe that the safety protocols is for all cruises charter or not,
