It's official we will go down and book our next cruise (at the aptly named Next cruise) at 2:00pm today.

Oasis of the seas on Sept 11.  We will use our casino royale offer to help soften the blow.

We are now 'cruise people'.

Awesome! We'll be in Enchantment in May (been on her once before -- and had my first RCI cruise on sister ship Grandeur) and we'll be on Oasis at the end of Aug. Make sure you get everything in writing from NextCruise -- we booked one cruise through them and it was kind of messed up and took time to untangle. The discounts aren't always worth the hassle -- we book our stuff ourselves.

Enjoy the rest of the cruise!

@edrussell Greetings from Toronto! 🙂

your posts brought a smile to my face as it is truly refreshing to hear the sheer enjoyment and excitement and positivity from a first time cruiser. It makes you stop and remember all the little things that makes cruising simply the best vacation.

Hope you enjoy your remaining sea day and you will just LOVE Oasis. Happy travels!

My husband and I are booked for the 1/28 sailing and would love to know what the current situation is in the MDR and Windjammer, in regards to crowds and social distancing. Both venues were pretty full on our December Anthem sailing, but I'm hoping that might not be the case on Enchantment at the moment. We're trying not to bring Covid back to our kids (who are scheduled to go to a camp in February), and I'd rather not have to rely on room service or sneaking Sorrento's up to the room to make that happen. 😆

Nevertheless, one shall always try not to bring any affliction from anywhere anyhow to any one.

Why not be positive and look for the good in things, we are not the doom and gloom type.

We reserved before we boarded for MDR.   We have my time dining.  As for windjammer, no reservations needed, but your sail pass is scanned on entry and exit.

Do you know why?  This is strange and new to me.  Are there no unlimited visits to the buffet on cruise ships anymore?  There is always something new.

Nothing to do with revenue.  Covid protocol.

This has been such a great thread!!  And so glad we have two new cruise converts.  You will really enjoy Oasis.  Best wishes and thanks again.  Katherine

Why thank you very much!  We have loved taking everyone along on our very first sailing.  We were so nervous coming into this.  I drove my wife nuts since October reading every website I could find and watching hundreds of youtube videos.  I have to say the whole process was so easy.

Her capacity is 2200, we had 900 on our sailing.

I would be happy if this continues for our sailing in March.

As opposed to the cruise line unhappiness with this matter.

We are the type to make lemonade from lemons.  Quite honestly I am a bit taken aback by some of the more negative posters here on CC.  They seem to just want to whine and pick holes in every situation.  I don't get it.

Heck my wife left her phone in a taxi in Nassau.  We realized it while sitting outside having a beer.  Her reaction was 'oh well, let's go and buy some beer'.  Didn't phase her one single bit.

We've overheard some of the people at guest services and let me tell you so many just 'want, want, want.  I've even overheard some person say they 'demanded a bigger stateroom because they felt they deserved it and said they would get off in Charleston if they didn't comply'.  Personally I hope they did get off.

Ahh well.  We love to travel and won't let negativity stop us!

I didn't make the rule.  I've no idea how it helps.

Thank you.  It's my personality - I always evaluate ("digest") information for a logic behind of it (I'm mathematician by nature and education since I was 6 (in USSR where I lived first 31 years (exactly half of my life) until 1991), civil engineer, and computer programmer) and common sense, and I find so little (or a pure lack) of it for last 2 years.  However, I agree, it is what it is.  There is a Russian expression - "When you live with wolves, you start to howl like a one".  And here is a Chinese one - "It's difficult to find a black cat in a dark room... especially, when there is no any cat in it".

Never fear...You can eat as much as you want with as many trips to the feeding tough as you like.  The only difference is that everything is served to you.  The scanning of the seapass cards is to insure the capacity, so social distancing can be maintained.

On my last cruise (December 5-12) on Celebrity Edge there was no scanning of any card, no bracelets, no masks, no physical distance observation (people used common sense not to spit in each other faces while talking and no tackling while walking).  It was simply great all over the ship!

We cannot wait until our next Celebrity cruise on February 25 from Tampa ( last night's  -2F and 2 feet of snow a few days ago don't help).

Ditto on my November 7 Celebrity Equinox sailing.  Of course now, with this new variant being so easily transmissible and with all the break through cases, Celebrity's protocols may have changed.

Yes, they changed with the major difference from others - they allow one to eat without forcing to wipe her mouth with a personal cloth after each bite (or sip for that matter) - the word "actively" is not present.  I would probably choke, otherwise, on multiple occasions.  Expectantly, they will remove it completely in time for our cruise on February 25.

It's official.  We've just booked oasis of the seas for Sept 11 2022 at next cruise.

We opted for an inside stateroom (room 12273).

We are just relaxing today.  Did some shopping and sat in the schooner bar for a while.

One more dining experience in the MDR coming up.  That will make 7 of 8 nights in MDR and we loved every second of it.

I'll detail the process of the PCR test and our return land border crossing as it occurs.

Beware... You are demonstrating all the characteristics of a cruiseaholic. This manifests itself in the uncontrollable urge to do onboard bookings, lingering on cruise-related websites, and spending your children's inheritance.

Welcome to the club!

And thanks for all the information you gave us.  Safe travels home.

I am just running into this post and you're almost done.

As a first time cruiser, I am very impressed you decided to do a live thread.  That's an advance move there.  I didn't do live threads until after my...17th cruise.  Granted, most of that time prior to that, internet on the ship was a very costly (more than now) thing.  Remember per minute charges guys?!?!?!

I have one question.  It appears you have a balcony.  Are you on deck 7 or 8?  I have a bid going for a balcony and I'm a little afraid of getting deck 8 for its under the pool deck, but at the same time, all the snazzy suites are also on Deck 8, which either is poor design, or they designed stuff to muffle the noise that usually occurs on the pool deck.  I'm set on the 12 night in March.  37 more days!!!!

And yes, I plan to do a live thread.  Internet is already purchased.
