Delayed or immediate access to cabins?

I can't remember how Celebrity handles cabin access--please help?

 

Does Celebrity grant immediate access, or is it delayed access (i.e., 1 pm)?  My group has Sky Suites on Apex, leaving tomorrow.

once you board you can go to your cabin and pick up your seapass card.  You can leav your carry on baggage and go get lunch or explore the ship.

You can usually go right to your room upon boarding.  There are always exceptions, but normally they have the rooms ready.  See you on the ship.

I'm sorry but that's not true since the restart. While you may access your cabin to drop off carry on luggage your room won't be ready before 1-1:30. Even in Retreat Class. It was this way on The Edge, Summit, and Apex.

That also has been my experience on the three Celebrity cruises I've been on since the restart.  Drop your bags, grab your card, hit the head if you like, and then clear out until after lunch or so.

Hmmm  Interesting.  We have been on Edge and Apex post pandemic and had no problem using the room when we first boarded.  On Edge we boarded around noon and on Apex at 11:30.  Now we were only there for an hour or so, but no one ran us out or anything.

They may have had it ready.  That's just not been the case on the ones we've had.  There was even a little sign on the bed that asked us to come back after some time or another (I don't recall exactly because it wasn't an issue--too much to do outside the room, anyhow).

I don't think anyone is going to come up to you and make you leave the room.  But they may still be servicing it and you will be in the way.  Even the suites who allow you access to your room to drop off your bags, would hope you go explore the ship.

If you think about it logically there's no way all cabins can be totally finished for guests by 11:30am. An impossibility.

Especially with being short so many staff.  Other than dropping off a carryon, why would you want to sit in your room?  Lots better to get a bit of lunch and explore.

The staff other than the butler don’t want/ or are allowed  to be the the room with you for their health safety.   
 

Usually If the cabin is unoccupied you can stay in there for a short time to drop off your luggage,  change clothes if possible or need to and to also watch the muster drill video and then go for the check in

 No, they wouldn’t. They will respect your choice. Although you could be interrupted by towel delivery etc if they are running a bit behind. Like others we tend to see our first visit to our suite as a ‘drop off’. If you want to sit and unwind for a while I am sure it will be fine….
 

Personally we wanted a ‘time break’ between last guests in, cleaning staff in and us in. When we returned to our suite at about 3pm (quickly dropped luggage at about 11.30am) we opened the windows wide and enjoyed a drink on the balcony allowing a further refresh of air throughout…

Simply put if there's no sign on your cabin door that the room isn't quite ready and/or the door is completely shut and locked and your keys are in the mail slot then it means the attendant has finished servicing your room. Anytime your cabin door is propped open indicates it isn't completely serviced.

When we boarded on Equinox, there was a card on our bed that said our cabin wasn't quite ready and to check back later. We were able to put our carry-ons away as others have stated.

Yes, the door was shut and the keys were in the slot.  The steward even came by and introduced himself/herself.  They did stay at the doorway, probably per the health protocols.  We watched the muster video, got our carry on items stored, got important stuff in the safe, DW had to touch-up makeup, etc, etc.  It was probably an hour before we went up for lunch.  We are back onboard Apex tomorrow and will see if thing have changed in the last month.

We are currently on Edge and were just going to drop our carry on items but when we got to the room, the steward and the Retreat Host indicated that the room was ready and we could unpack before lunch.  We got on at around 11:30.

Indeed in your case your cabin was completed when you arrived. There's always going to be some cabins that are completed earlier than others. It was just your initial post that implied all cabins are ready when the ship starts accepting guests that I took exception to since that's not true.

Yes Yes Yes  Tomorrow is almost here.

Stayed up late Wednesday night studying for my COVID test  :).  Passed the test on Thursday morning.  Now we are set to sail.  Haven't been sick at all but was a bit paranoid knowing that a positive result would wreck our vacation.  Have a safe trip to the port.

My experience on post Revolution ships is that you are invited to go by your room to drop off things but are asked to wait in the public area if your room is not yet completely made up.   This is for the safety of the guest and room attendants who are not suppose to be cleaning the room when guests are present.

 

We usually drop our things and put things in the safe and then go to Luminae for Lunch even though our room has already been made up.

We were on Apex for the New Years eve cruise. 

We boarded at 11:30AM.

Announcement was made at that time that cabins were ready.

We went to our cabin, keys were in the mail slot.

Dropped our things, steward stopped by, introduced himself.

 

So depends is the answer.

Cabins might be ready earlier these days since so few people are on board relative to the pre-pandemic days when they sailed full capacity.

If the announcement was already made then of course you can go to your cabin. The poster was asking about going there before the announcement.  With lower capacity the rooms will probably be ready sooner. But lower capacity also means lower staff so that might not be the case.

On the Edge last week, got on at 11:45 am. Sky Suite was ready. Butler came in an introduced herself and asked if we needed anything as we unpacked. No limitations on using the cabin but headed to Luminae for lunch! It was a great start to a fab cruise.

On our Apex cruise last week, we went to the room to drop items off but the stateroom attendant was about to vacuum the carpets. No problem to drop off bags and use the restroom but they may not be finished fully preparing and provisioning the room. No big deal.
