The Spirit returns…….

I'm thinking Spirit will spend the summer in Tampa, as Pride heads to Europe. This gives Tampa an option for 6-8 day cruises that otherwise wouldn't  have. Elation will head back up to Jacksonville, and then Splendor will replace Elation in Port Canaveral.

If Australia reopens by Q4 2022, either Splendor or Costa Magica goes to Australia, and one goes to Port Canaveral. If not, I could see Spirit or Pride potentially biding time in Mobile when Pride returns from Europe.

John Heald mentioned in his live video on Friday that a new operating plan for Mobile effective October 5, 2023 will be announced. If Spirit is returning to Australia by Q4 2023, that makes me wonder if there's more changes afoot.

Since the Splendor sailings in Australia have only been cancelled until Sept. 26 2022, I can see her doing Alaska, and then possibly Hawaii, and then TP back to Oz. Of course all this is pure guessing, since no telling when Australia will allow cruising again. Or even a TP from Seattle to Sydney.

I'm thinking the Spirit will sail in Europe for the Summer instead of the Pride. It is already in Dubai so just needs to sail through the Suez Canal.

Hope this isn't so as I am booked on the Pride TA to Barcelona in April. They have already delayed final payment.

Thinking Spirit to Alaska, Freedom to PC and Elation to Jacksonville. Paradise stays in Tampa [for now].

I don't see them using Spirit to replace Freedom for the Alaska season. Splendor, maybe. Carnival Freedom has a double berth occupancy of 2,980 passengers; Spirit just 2,124. Freedom's summer sailings are selling at a premium to the brand new Discovery Princess, indicating that Freedom is selling very well for the summer season. I can't imagine Carnival would want to reduce capacity by 30%. Splendor, on the other hand, has a capacity of 3,012 passengers, nearly identical to Freedom.

My best guess is that Spirit replaces Paradise on 4/5 night sailings from Tampa, followed by Paradise which relocates from Jacksonville to cover previously scheduled Ecstasy itineraries. The 4/5 night sailings from Tampa consistently perform very well for the line.

Elation will eventually be replaced out of Port Canaveral and sail from Mobile next year.

I would lose my mind. I booked the TA back from Lisbon to Tampa on the Pride just because it is the Pride. Accept no substitutes.

We booked with a Carnival agent this last Thursday (02/03/22) afternoon for March 31 sailing on the Ecstasy.  I wonder if our agent knew then it was being replaced with the Spirit?

We sailed Spirit on her maiden Northbound Alaska sailing years ago, we loved the ship then.

Still can't book Spirit from US on Carnival website.

Those of us who are booked on Ecstacy (just booked after hearing Spirit was taking her place and pvp told us to go ahead and do it now) received an email Thursday evening saying they were starting the process of moving Ecstacy bookings to the Spirit, that your booking would be closed and not accessible during the transition and you would receive an email with your new booking info. This process is supposed to be completed by February 12.

John Heald made the announcement on Tuesday that Spirit was coming to Jax. Our pvp said that evening they didn’t have any particulars on it but would find out Wednesday morning and let us know if we should wait or go ahead and book Ecstacy. She called us Wednesday morning and that’s when we booked Ecstacy.

I am still able to book a cruise (an elite casino offer) out of Australia on the Spirit for next year... If  the Spirit does return to the U.S., what ship would they use? (a different Spirit class ship, or ?). Thanks

Spirit is already on its way.

Spirit is cancelled through Fall 2023, Splendor until late Sept 2022.

Splendor will most likely return but I think Spirit will remain in the US and either a Conquest or Costa Magica will be redeployed there but they won’t confirm until they get a window as to when cruising may resume in Australia.

Since Australia uses different power ports, any ship headed to drydock soon could be a candidate for deployment Down Under. Most likely it is the Costa Magica that will take Spirit's place Down Under, though.

My guess is the Spirit goes to Tampa and the Paradise goes to Jacksonville.

I'm not sure if Jax is enough of a draw for a bigger ship since they've always had Fantasy classes.

The problem in Jacksonville is not getting enough people to cruise from there, that’s not a problem. The problem is the ship has to be able to fit under the Dames Point Bridge, and the larger ships don’t fit. Interesting to go under the bridge on these smaller ships, looks like you can reach up and touch the bridge!

Booking confirmations have started coming into our email. Changing Ecstasy, in Jacksonville, to Spirit. Looks like our Ocean views are changing out for Balconies.

I suspect once those reservations are changed over, we will find out what Spirit's next gig will be.
