trrn2016 Posted February 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2022 Hi, We will be docking at the Royal Naval Dockyard from 1pm to 1 pm the next day. Are there walkable things to do at the port? Also, is the area safe at night. Thanks!

A quick shopping trip to the Clocktower Mall. If you want food or drink try the Frog And Onion. Mini Golf If you're going to be there in the summer take a shuttle or taxi to Horseshoe Bay...a beautiful beach. The beach at Dockyard is man made and not nearly as nice.

Laurab23 Posted February 9, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2022 National Museum is great. And for the price of admission you can sit and watch the dolphins. If you have the money, you can swim with them too. The grounds of the museum have some of the best views and the inside of the house is really interesting. Frog and Onion has some great Shepards pie. Lots of great shops and the transportation museum is very interesting also. Laura

And ask for the internet password, free use for an hour.

dazey Posted February 17, 2022 #9 Share Posted February 17, 2022 We have been many times and enjoy the dockyard but the beach nearby, while close, is not that great. -We have purchased "resort for a day" at Elbow Beach - quiet beach, chaises provided, drink service and a lovely place to have lunch. They can provide transportation for a fee but we just took the bus. Not inexpensive but a wonderful day at the beach. We always take the buses and ferries and feel totally safe. Of course, this was all prior to Covid so not sure what is offered now.

dazey Posted February 17, 2022 #11 Share Posted February 17, 2022 Thanks for letting me know. I knew they closed for the winter season but it looks like maybe this could be permanent. I just enjoyed looking at the photo gallery on their website just to see the beach, restaurant, etc. Maybe when things get back to "normal" it will open for beach and lunch activities. The original hotel has been closed for years and needs many $'s to be safely updated.
mets123 Posted March 3, 2022 #12 Share Posted March 3, 2022 I know you mentioned things to do at the dockyard, But you can take the ferry to Hamilton. It's about a 20 minute ride.
