Move Up Offer - What to Bid?

The first thing that I would do is check the price if you booked it directly and calculate the difference between what you paid and the current price.  Not the GTY cruise cruise only price, but the one with the Indulge package included.

Does you current booking have the AI?  This is important, because you will not get the AI/indulge package if you win a suite move up bid unless you already have it in your current booking.

if the Move up bid offers a significant savings on what you could get by just upgrading and you have the AI on you current booking, I would bid just over the amount between the low and mid range.  I would look for a savings of around 50% of what you could book direct.

We bid on a FV and AQ for our Constellation sailing leaving 14 Feb.  There were 11 FV's available at the time, so we bit one click above the minimum.  They are now all gone, and I haven't been notified whether or not I got one.  Maybe they are holding out until 2 days before notifying us, but I doubt it.

We also bid one click above minimum for an AQ stateroom.  There are several A1 and A2's available as we speak.  Haven't heard anything.  Waiting in anticipation and hopeful we get an AQ stateroom, just to be able to dine in Blu.

As suggested, as this is a bid process, the awarded staterooms are issued in order of highest bid and down until available bid staterooms are filled.  How much to bid is pretty difficult to answer as it is dependent on how others bid, which is impossible to predict.  I will say that the minimum suggested bid typically is the base level of consideration.  I'm sure there will be those who have been awarded the upgrade with the minimum suggested bid, but I would believe that is rare as someone will always put a higher bid in to attempt to gain the upgrade.

As to confirming the currently published rate (if available) for the stateroom in question, that would give you a sense of what might be a fair bid and would then give you a measure of what you have already paid for your current stateroom against what you might pay for the upgrade in order to determine that value to you. But that still would not be an assured winning bid.

In short, go with your gut....and your budget!

It is all based upon inventory.

Just be aware that on some itineraries, suites sell out early.  X will even take bids on full categories just to 'backfill' in the event of cancellations and no-shows.

If an online dummy booking shows significant SS inventory remaining, a lower bid may be successful.  If there is no SS inventory available, any bid would have to be higher for any chance of success.

Two days before you cruise would be about the time that you would be officially notified that you did not win.

I would say that you did not bid high enough for the FV.

Do any of your bids say expired?  Can you still change your bid?

Good luck.

Hello.   On our last cruise in January 2022, we were sailing in a Sky Suite and put in two bids, one for a Celebrity Suite and another for a Royal Suite.  Our Celebrity suite bid was a fair bid on the indicator, but our Royal Suite offer was very poor (we bid slightly higher than the Celebrity suite).  The Celebrity Suite bid expired fairly soon after we made it, but the Royal Suite bid was pending right up until two days prior to sailing when we received an email to say our bid was successful.

We spoke with another couple on our cruise who also bid for a Celebrity Suite and their offer was lower than ours, but they won that bid.

We already had the Suite Class perks with the Sky Suite, but we did get the additional perks of the Royal Suite - two bottles of spirits, wifi, free specialty restaurant bookings, laundry etc.  We already had a  drinks package, but I think would would have got that too had we not already had it.   It was a fabulous cruise and we were pleased we made the bid.

HI I have bid on Veranda and Aquaclass the Veranda now says expired and I can not change any of my bids. What does this mean? I thought you should be able to change your bids up till 2 days before?

From what I have read and experienced, I believe that means your Aqua bid was likely accepted.

That was my experience last week. My Aqua bid was expired and my SS was still pending however, I wasn't able to modify it. Later that day I received the email confirming the SS offer was accepted and received new eDocs. There were 40-50 open Aqua class cabins open so there is a good chance it was accepted. Others have reported that same experience.

Recommend you keep checking your account, the app and/or your credit card. See you on board three weeks from today.

RBKL is correct. Congratulations.  I am assuming that the Veranda does say expired and you only have one other bid for the Aqua.

this is what has been reported.  Circle back and let us know.

Once they accept your bid, you cannot change or cancel it.

enjoy.

How do you go back and check on your bid?  Also we have bid on a Sky suite for an upcoming cruise and have a drink package.  I usually upgrade that package to a premium package but my TA said that you get premium drinks if you get the upgrade to the suite but for some reason she said you only get the premium drinks in the suite areas?  For instance if you are in the casino you wouldn't get a premium drink you would only get the classic?  Do you know if this is true?  She wasn't sure because she tends to spend most of her time in the suite area during the cruise and doesn't really venture out to other areas of the ship.

As for checking, use the link provided in the email reply that you got from Celebrity for your bid(s).

As for premium package, a Move Up gets you the amenities of the upgraded cabin (e.g., dining in Luminae), but not additional perks such as moving from Classic to Premium - at least that's how it's been.  However, if you're in the Retreat Lounge, you can ask for whatever you like, which is probably what your TA was thinking.

Yes see below. This is how it has been since Friday. No charge on cc or email notifications of being accepted. I can not change my bids and if I click on my email to bid up. It says “my name” is not eligible for the program.

I will let you know if anything changes.

Have you checked your credit card? People here say that it is the charges on your CC which is often the first  indication they had of an accepted MoveUp bid.

Duh- yea, probably. Long afternoon.

Yeah sorry that’s is what it means. Although the credit card I have used is slow to show charges.  I sometimes get goods I have bought on it before it shows up on the account on the app.

Would your online reservation show a new cabin number? Or have I missed that you have looked at that already?

Still showing original room number. On both online accounts and the Celebrity app.

I setup a Credit Card Alert on Chase for any charge over $10.    Whenever something is authorized my Watch vibrates and I see an alert that a charge off XXX has been authorized.   That is usually my first alert that I won an Upgrade.   About 2-5 minutes later I get an e-mail from Celebrity saying Congratulations you have won an upgrade.   I then go to the website to see what room I got.
