Well, we leave tomorrow so I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread describing our experiences onboard this cruise and onshore. As we have almost 50 people from CC with us and possibly more there will be many different points of view.

I got my Covid test done yesterday at my local CVS and am good to go. Now to pack.

I will be leaving tomorrow from the San Diego area and parking in the World Cruise Center lot. At $20 a day it is a bit pricy, but it is LA. I have early boarding status so I should be in my cabin before noon. We are having an informal Sailaway get together at the Alfresco Bar on the Lido Deck(14) Aft at 3pm or so. If you are on the ship come join us.

All others not with us, feel free to ask questions and we will answer if we can.

Stay tuned Folks!

Today went well. After a 90 min drive up the freeway, I parked my car in the World Cruise Center lot quite close to the berth and was onboard 20 minutes later. Tip: If you are driving, drop off your luggage with the stevedores first, then park.

After getting settled I watched the safety video and checked in to my muster station. After a quick burger and fries I checked out the ship until our CC Sailaway get together. I met some very nice people from different parts of the US and we compared notes about upcoming excursions and enjoyed some drinks.

Then it was back to the room to unpack and then attend the Elite Lounge Party. Again, I met some great people with drinks and appetizers.

After a nice dinner instead of going to the theater for the comedy show, I went back to room and watched a movie and then onto the internet.

Tomorrow, we have the Princess hosted CC Meet and Great on the Deck 15 One5 lounge at 11:00am. I'll need to remember to set my clock forward.

It will also be hot tub time to relax and enjoy my book and wander around again. Also, as it is formal night so I'm undecided to eat in the DR or Buffet.

According to those in the know we have about 1200 passengers aboard so it is not too crowded at all.

Time to say goodnight!

We are following your thread. We have the same 10 Day cruise scheduled on the Saphire Princess. We are anxious to see both your onboard activities and your port visits. Thanks for taking the time from your cruise to post here.

How often are they asking you to wear a mask?

Today we got a letter saying that "masks are still required in select venues and during certain activites, the Theater, Casino, and Medical Center." During our CC Meet and Greet the Asst. Cruise Director said the venues are the entertainment lounges. However as of today everywhere else masks are recommended not required.

As there are more people onboard now, I am wearing mine while walking around crowded areas and the elevators. But that is my choice.

I think I may as well chime in, since I have now been on the Grand Princess for 43 straight days.  As you probably know, the Grand Princess is a relatively dated ship, so you would expect there to be various problems/malfunctions here and there.  The key is that "if you see something, say something."  In the case of the Grand Princess, if you encounter a problem, whether it is electrical, plumbing, cleanliness of an area, food quality, etc. notify your stateroom steward or guest services, depending on the problem.  The crew is fantastic and responsive. You can rely on a timely response to correct the problem, whatever it is.  If you do that, your cruise will be more enjoyable.  She is still a grand ship and you will find that you will have a great time if you speak up if something needs to be corrected.  That has been my experience. Look forward to an enjoyable cruise.

Not the Grand, but on another Princess ship the solution for a leak for all of the cruise was a big bucket.

Can you tell me about the condition of the Grand - sailing in March 2023 and hope its in good shape. Took it 8 years ago and it was pretty nasty.

Thanks

I was on the ship in December 2021 over Christmas and I thought she looked in great shape! I was impressed with the ship. It had been forever since I had been on the ship. She is going into a dry dock in May I believe.

We will be one the Grand in April going to Hawaii. So looking forward to this cruise.

Thanks for the reporting on what you see and experience.

Do you know how many passengers are currently on?  Stats for Grand say 2600 for guests.

I will be on the Grand for the first time on  March 25th.  Is there a jogging track? I haven't seen one on the deck plans. Is jogging allowed around the Promenade Deck?

Just my opinion...I think, there is a jogging track on deck 15 (above Lido Deck/forward).  There is not a track around the entire ship.  I don't mind walkers on the Promenade Deck (7), but when I have been in a Window Suite (Deck 6) and joggers are up and running at 7 AM....you can definitely hear them "pounding the pavement".

The Promenade deck was blocked off on both ends of the ship on our cruise in December. You couldn't walk all the way around - you could go up and down the length of the ship and back.

As @cr8tiv1noted above, jogging does occur on the Promenade. It's up to you, if you want to wake the Window Suite sleepers 😉.

Would appreciate any info on what you did in Cabo.  If you took an excursion that you liked please post which one.  If you did anything on your own let us know about it.  Also, how is the food and the entertainment?  What times are the nightly performances in the theater?

It depends on when your cruise is. Requirements may change week to week. Just make sure to keep checking Princess website and your travel summary
