I was talking about bars, not restaurants that sell alcohol. In NY children under 16 are allowed in bars with a parent or guardian. Of course individual bars can have their own rules, but it's not illegal. And in Florida it is illegal which is why I stated laws are not universal. And while the SL make serve more than peanuts and pretzels, it does not "sale" those items so in Florida, it would be illegal for children to belly up to the bar. You’ve got to be kidding. The comparison is food vs drinks not revenue as much of the stuff is included (pre paid) in both SL and CK all the time.

LXdad Posted March 11, 2022 #80 Share Posted March 11, 2022 We are on Harmony in a Loft Suite in a few weeks. I assume kids eating dinner in Coastal Kitchen is fine during those hours. As long as they don't break the imaginary line between the lounge and the restaurant. We paid for a suite to avoid the main dining room. This would be an issue.

There is not a single bar on the entire ship that is 21 and over, absolutely no reason why the suite lounge should be. If it wasn't for my daughter I'd be in a balcony, not an owners suite. Royal should be treating her better than me. Also kid's club for some insanely stupid reason is closed from 5-7, so your options are no parents in the lounge or kids left in the hallway unattended if they aren't allowed in the lounge. And just like my daughter, neither my wife or I drink any alcohol but still enjoy going to the lounge before dinner. It's not like it is some drunk fest. Not 21, but several venues are 18 and over in the evening. Actually check ID's

Night club spaces like the dungeon or blaze (or wherever else on other ships) was security at the door(s) every night as I recall. That usually started 10 pm or later. Seen it for the white party in the solarium on Oasis (those seemed so cool and unique when Oasis/Allure were new-ish). Don’t recall other scenarios, but probably adult comedy venues. I don't believe there is security at the door. As for the comedy club on Oasis class ships , there is staff at the door, BUT later in the evening when the venue is used for a club, security is stationed with some electronic way to verify sea pass cards. M We saw security escort some minors out of Blaze the other night. An adult woman causing a drunken scene that caused a security call but an 8 year old can't sit with parents in the SL to wait for their assigned dinner table? cindivan Posted March 12, 2022 #93 Share Posted March 12, 2022 We typically book suites when we are cruising with a small group. 15ish years ago our youngest (6 or so) was at the suite lounge pre-dinner with with my husband and my parents showing us and my parents a card trick. The concierge told us he wasn’t allowed because he wasn’t 21. He wasn’t being loud or running around, but the concierge was adamant he had to leave. It really soured us for the suite lounge for a while. We always get the drink package so free drinks are not a draw of the suite lounge, just like the proximity of some pre-dinner apps and down time. And in my recent memory there are always kids in there.
Rare brillohead Posted March 12, 2022 #94 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Regarding ID for the Comedy Club, you can't make reservations for someone who isn't 18yo -- the system blocks it.

It was in the letter sent out by the Liberty Concierge for last weeks sailing: No idea why it was put in there. If it was because she's new and thought that was the rule, or if she was trying to create a new rule. I went to corporate and they overruled her within 90 minutes, so either way she was incorrect. She was not very talkative on the ship, so I didn't get any more story on it, except she made no attempt to enforce an age limit or dress code and she was pleasant to my daughter.

In establishments where sales from food account for more than 50% of total sales, minors are allowed in the establishment. I have some knowledge on Florida brewery law. Florida is more complicated than you’re suggesting in this thread. 1) the age to enter a bar serving liquor is 18 in Florida. It is 21 to drink. For wine only bars, it is also 18. For self-serve wine bars, it is generally 21, but not by law, by custom. 2) different rules apply to breweries. Children are allowed in breweries in Florida. Many have play areas for kids, even if no food is served by the brewery. For many, food may be brought in my nearby vendors. Many set up food trucks or allow deliveries. But they allow kids accompanied by parents. 3) Florida is jam-packed with kid-friendly breweries.
