We had glorious weather!  Our excursion today was Scenic Sognefjord by Coach and Rail.  After tendering ashore we boarded a bus to take us to Voss.  Here are pics from stops along the way.....

From the restaurant we walked to the train station to board the Bergen train to take us to Myrdal where we changed trains to board Flamsbana (The Flam Railway).  It was a beautiful trip and difficult to photograph.  Tomorrow we are in Bergen.

I decided I needed a rest day today in Bergen.  Myster set off solo on the planned walking and ice sculptures tour.  He is hoping to take pics with his phone.   I will attempt to share some here later.  For now it's chilling on the pool deck for me.

Good for you - I guess the weather is fine; usually it rains two out of three days in Bergen, so if you have hit the fine one you are in luck, Mysty.  We have been there in both rain and sun, and sun is certainly much better.

Day has been overcast and the skies opened with rain just after Myster returned.  Here are pics from his walk about and ice sculpture from Magic Ice......

We went to Edvard Grieg’s home (now a museum) where we attended a short piano concert in a lovely hall:

After our tour we wandered around in the rain through the old warehouse district, which you saw I mystr’s photo.

Then it stopped raining (!) and we took the Floibanen funicular up Mt Floyen, and wandered around up there. Here’s a pic of the Moon from the viewpoint on Mt Floyen:

Internet is taking a break from the hissy so I will attempt to post.  Another grey rainy day.  Our excursion was a cruise to Lysefjord.  Here is the map of the route from the pier near the ship to the fjord.

If you are interested in historic ships, and not already all booked up, the Fram and Kon-tiki are on show at the Maritime Museum in Oslo.  We found the Fram particularly fascinating.  It is on the other side of the harbour.

Second that - we stayed in Oslo on our own a few years back and hopped the ferry to this very interesting part of the harbor. Isn't there a Viking ship museum there too? (from the 9th century, not one of the current Viking river cruise boats 😉 )

Currently steaming our way to Oslo with a scheduled arrival of 5:00 pm.  Woke to glorious sunshine this morning with temps moving beyond 50 F.  Oh joy oh rapture!

Here are pics from our amazing Ukrainian meal on the pool deck last night.  First course was couscous with mushrooms, strips of nacho chips and mushroom sauce....

Main was turkey and beef cabbage rolls with pickled cabbage garnish from Chef Andrii's grandmother's recipe.......

We enjoyed a Connoisseur's List Rioja with the meal.....unfortunately the picture refuses to load right size up.

Chef Andrii did a spectacular job!  One of the best meals we've had on this voyage.

A lovely dinner - and now sunshine!   The gods are maybe smiling down on you now, M.  Have a great day in Oslo.

Our excursion for tomorrow will visit Fram!  The excursion is called Norwegian Explorers.   We will visit The Viking Planet (Viking Times with Virtual Reality technology), Fram Museum, and Kon-Tiki Museum.  Sounds like we chose an interesting excursion.

M - I was just reading about The Viking Planet. Looks interesting....I think? Can't wait for your review. Will be back in Oslo in August for 4 days, and will follow your lead.

Daveywavey - I have heard of Imam Bayaldi, but didn't think it was Ukrainian?  I guess I am missing something here.

I Know it's originally a Turkish dish Lola but my ex was from Sevastapol which is only a skip and a jump away and used to cook it often. Maybe it's a Crimean thing.

Suspect that you're right. The Crimean restaurant that we visited in Kyiv (called Musafir) had very different cuisine. I don't remember that particular dish on the menu but when I checked online just now, it is there! Sounds tasty.

Well we live and learn. It apparently was originally an Ottoman dish. I Knew the tale about the imam fainting but here is Wikis take on it.

İmam bayıldı

İmam bayıldı
İmam bayıldı AvL.JPG
A plate of İmam bayıldı served with yogurt and rice
Alternative names İmambayıldı
Place of origin Turkey
Region or state Turkey
Associated national cuisine Ottoman
Serving temperature Room temperature or warm
Main ingredients Eggplant, onions, garlic, tomatoes, olive oil

İmam bayıldı[1][2] (literally: "the imam fainted")[3] is a dish in Ottoman cuisine consisting of whole aubergine stuffed with onion, garlic and tomatoes, and simmered in olive oil. It is a zeytinyağlı (olive oil-based) dish and is found in most of the former Ottoman regions. The dish is served at room temperature or warm.[4][5]

Origin of the name[edit]

The name supposedly derives from a tale of a Turkish imam who swooned with pleasure at the flavour when presented with this dish by his wife, although other more humorous accounts suggest that he fainted upon hearing the cost of the ingredients or the amount of oil used to cook the dish.[6]

Another folk-tale relates that an imam married the daughter of an olive oil merchant. Her dowry consisted of twelve jars of the finest olive oil, with which she prepared each evening an aubergine dish with tomatoes and onions. On the thirteenth day, there was no aubergine dish at the table. When informed that there was no more olive oil, the imam fainted.[7]

Apologies for going off Piste M.
