Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #151 Share Posted March 29, 2022 Yesterday was DH birthday. He spent the day at Cocoa Beach and I bought him Ron Jon swag. We had dinner in Chops. I have read rumors that the mushroom soup was no longer available. Here is irrefutable digital evidence to the contrary. Chops is delicious but it’s a lot of food. . . And that was before the desert. I don’t know how people with the unlimited dining package go to a restaurant every night. They brought out a birthday surprise before the red velvet cake we ordered.

I'm going to try the UDP this September. I have a b2b, 5 night and 9 night. I'm going to go with the shorter one and see if i like it any better. I think the key is to pace yourself. People who don't have the UDP, might try to try everything all at once, or as much as possible in one sitting. With the UDP, you can spread it out a little and not overdo it. Yes I agree that’s the strategy. But I don’t think that we really overdid it last night I had the mushroom soup the lettuce wedge and the 9oz fillet.(I should’ve ordered the 6 ounce) Because I only ate half of it. And it was very good-cooked perfectly. I ordered the red velvet cake for dessert but I didn’t eat it I took it back to the room. I had two bites of DH’s cake. I agree that if I had the Ultimate Dining package I might’ve ordered just one of the two appetizers. But that would’ve been the only difference. Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #154 Share Posted March 29, 2022 So we’re on the island we rode the tram from the ship to the tram station. We got off and got onto a larger tram that goes around the island. We are at breezy day on chill Island which is the third stop on the train.
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #155 Share Posted March 29, 2022 (edited) Our destination were the daybeds at breezy Bay. The fee includes the daybed, 2 lounge chairs and umbrella, a cooler with four waters, towel so you don’t have to carry them off the ship, and two floating mats. Four people are allowed to share it. It’s not cheap at $150 for the two of us but considering the cabanas which are just to our right are well over $1000 I considered it a bargain. But they do look really cool! DELTABLUE Posted March 29, 2022 #156 Share Posted March 29, 2022 Happy birthday DH! Here's wishing you a wonderful year to come.😉 Glad to hear that the mushroom soup is still at Chops. I always get it and enjoy it. The planner for my cruise has mushroom soup listed for the first night in the MDR and I am looking forward to it. I think it is close to the same thing. Glad that the weather is cooperating for you. I'm sitting here with my fingers freezing as I type. It was down in the 20s° overnight and the house has not warmed up yet. Nor has the outside. It is only 34°. Enjoy your warm and sunny day. Somehow your cruise always seems better when the weather is rotten at home.
sunny days Posted March 29, 2022 #157 Share Posted March 29, 2022 What were your thoughts on the water temperature at Coco Cay? Did they happen to have the temperature posted? It's been so cold up North! I will be at Coco Cay in May and am concerned that the water might be really cold. We were down in April one year and the water was frigid. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
sunny days Posted March 29, 2022 #158 Share Posted March 29, 2022 Another question: I can't seem to find out what the price per day is for Vroom Surf and Stream for 1 device if I purchase it on the ship. Pre cruise is $22.49 per day. Thanks again.

Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #161 Share Posted March 29, 2022 While we were on the balloon the attendant was telling a woman next to me that the overwater cabanas were $1800 today. He said they’re very popular and they’re most always fully booked before the cruise even takes place. He said the price ranges though depending on the ship and the number of people interested. He said they can go for as much is $3500.

And I did have to ease in but then the water temperature was fine. It’s not as warm as the pool in the summertime but it’s certainly very refreshing on this hot day in the 80s 20 minutes ago, sunny days said: Another question: I can't seem to find out what the price per day is for Vroom Surf and Stream for 1 device if I purchase it on the ship. When I signed up for them it showed that surf and stream was $24.99 and surf only was $25.99. I know that makes no sense. So I signed up for Surf and Stream.🤣

Not sure if it's the new normal, but both on board and in the planner the prices seem higher than "usual". This may affect the usual planning on when/how to use the discount. And yet they can't offer a single perk for their suite guests on Coco Cay like is (or at least was) the case on Labadee with the Barefoot Beach Club and special buffet lunch. Bummer. For my purposes, I'll take that BB Club on Labadee over Coco Cay any day. I can see where CC far more appeals to families though, especially, with all the waterpark activities. Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #165 Share Posted March 29, 2022 (edited) Up, Up & Away--The balloon ride was really great. This is the group right before us coming down. You can see the passenger "basket below the balloon. It is really a circular walkway. It is a very soft landing. The picture below shows how much space there is and that there is a net all the way around about 7 feet high. This is a close up of the net. I felt very safe. Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #166 Share Posted March 29, 2022 It was a beautiful day, and the views were excellent. The pier is long, and I was very thankful for the tram ride. You can see some of the coral in the water. They had to build out past that. The tower in the water park is visible from anywhere. Of course, I had to look for our area. The umbrellas for our Breezy Bay daybeds are the blue unbrellas by the beach Another picture of the water park. These over water-cabanas are in South Beach.
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 29, 2022 Author #167 Share Posted March 29, 2022 One of the nicer and "happening" areas is Oasis Lagoon. A DJ was playing music and lots of people were having a good time. The swim -up bar was very popular. The bar is just right of the bridge. We kept saying we were going to go over there and check out the pool. But we never did.

Hoping to do chef's table one night as well. Will have to do a bunch of walking each day to work it off! ☺️

Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 30, 2022 Author #171 Share Posted March 30, 2022 One other thing I wanted to mention. Is that immediately beside Coco cay is the Norwegian Cruise Line private islands. I’m not sure what the name is. But you can see that it is still a tender port. for help here. And as the person on our island said it looks so boring. having said that, are used to enjoy Kosuke when it was nothing but a beach day so I’m sure they enjoy their island. But the bad thing would be if you have children and they could look right across and say all of the things on Coco cay.
shipgeeks Posted March 30, 2022 #172 Share Posted March 30, 2022 We (and 134 others) were watching you pull in to Nassau this morning. Looks like another nice day!
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 30, 2022 Author #173 Share Posted March 30, 2022 (edited) We are in Nassau today. We pre-booked a day pass at the Margaritaville resort. Which is .59 miles from the pier. The only trouble is the pier is huge and of course our ship was on the farthest point. They did not have any buses are trans to take us from the ship to the entrance of the port. someone at guest services said there was a bus. But the crewmember that was on the gangway said that there wasn’t. i’m not afraid to walk a distance. But this was crazy long. If you look at the lower picture you can see the portion of the pier that’s right beside us. It was longer than the length of the ship and the gangway was on the farthest point. So you had to walk that distance. Then you can see The pier turns left and goes for a distance and then there is A short cross piece where you turn right that’s where the lights are. Then you turn left again and go all the way down the length of the pier to the building with the red roof and go through it out to the street. By then we were toast. Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted March 30, 2022 Author #175 Share Posted March 30, 2022 We are here. The resort is really beautiful and it was no trouble to check in. I had printed out my confirmation. But they sent me an email reminder last night about my day pass. So I didn’t think it would be any trouble. The day pass includes use of the pool, towels, the lazy river, and their little water park, and the infinity pool on the fourth floor. It does not include food or drink. We have access to two of their restaurants I haven’t looked for them yet but I’m sure they’re here at poolside somewhere. I can hear the blender going so I know there’s a bar nearby. The daybeds are extra and we didn’t think we needed one of those. Here are two pictures of the area they called the water park which is really some kids splash area and a few slides. But I’m sure this would keep the kids busy. The pool is a zero entry pool were you just walk in like a beach.
