sellwingri Posted March 29, 2022 #27 Share Posted March 29, 2022 No smoking on a couple of my cruises earlier in the year and it was fabulous. There were crowds so it didn’t appear to keep people out. Then they again allowed smoking. What really upsets me is how the casino is handled during the day. They open the tables on the smoking side! So if you want to play cards (I play UTH) you have to sit with smokers. It absolutely makes no sense to me if smokers only make up 15% of cruisers. 2
Tranquil Waters Posted March 29, 2022 #28 Share Posted March 29, 2022 Are you allowed to bring one of the battery handheld fans to blow the smoke back at the smokers? 🤷🏼♀️ They would get more smoke to inhale and non-smokers would have fresher air to inhale. Win-win…… 1
Raemk Posted March 29, 2022 #29 Share Posted March 29, 2022 On my recent cruise my issue wasnt so much with the smokers who were playing it was more so that many non gambling smokers just lingered in the smoking section making it worse and making it crowded. We have been on ships before where the smoke travels but on the Anthem the smoking section was all the way in a back corner and I didnt notice the smell anywhere but that back corner. I just wish non gambling smokers went to the outside smoking section.

If it can block a little virus, it can certainly block those large smoke particles in the air. 😇 A mask does not prevent smoke from getting on your clothes or in your hair. I am a nonsmoker (used to) and would like to play in casinos but not if there is smoking. About 80% of Americans are nonsmokers. It seems to me that cruise lines are catering to a small portion of potential gamblers by allowing smoking. Jim

So much for air circulation and filtering. I was on a Rotterdam cruise in December 2021 and the smoke from the casino was so bad it made the Music Walk and shop area very smoky as well. To the point that we tried to avoid those areas as well even though we loved the music.

We assumed the casinos were non smoking as you can't smoke in the Celebrity casinos, and they are sister lines. Just found out that you can smoke in them! Very disappointed as we spend lots of time in there at the blackjack tables. Just wondering how large the area is that is designated for smoking, and how bad does the smoke/smell transfer to the rest of the casino? Are their tables that are designated smoking as well, or just slot areas? Thanks! I thought I ready they stopped the smoking in the casinos

takeabreath3 Posted March 29, 2022 #35 Share Posted March 29, 2022 Please, how many times are we going to beat this dead horse! The casino is a smoking environment. Non smokers have the run of the rest of the ship, don't be stingy!! Ha Ha Ha note: the devil made me write this post....don't get mad at me.😁 3

I wish it was more like the Hard Rock here in Tampa and have systems in place to mitigate the smoke and sections that are truly smoke free. We cruised on Mardi Gras Sep 2021. Spent many hours at the craps table in the non smoking area and did not smell smoke. It is an H shaped casino with the casino bar in the middle and even in the bar area the smoke smell was light. Seems they figured out how to filter. 1
davekathy Posted March 29, 2022 #39 Share Posted March 29, 2022 The Explores casino is a smoking lounge that allows gambling at times. No way to escape the stench. It flows up the staircase to the Promenade deck and also into Schooners.

Unfortunately all RCI casinos smell like smoke. There is no comparison to casinos on Celebrity ships when it comes to smoke. For what it’s worth, I am not a fan of smoke so I am probably more sensitive to smoke than other people who aren’t bothered as much by second and smoke. psupa Posted March 30, 2022 #45 Share Posted March 30, 2022 I have a suggestion - how about Royal bring back the no smoking on Formal or Dress your Best nights. At least that would be 2 nights from 6-12 PM with no smoking in the casino.

We were on two Princess cruises this year that both sailed at less than 50% capacity. The only crowded spot on the entire ship was the casino, where smoking was not allowed. I truly don’t understand why they all flipped back.

kokopelli-az Posted March 30, 2022 #50 Share Posted March 30, 2022 I'm on the Jewel right now. I can't tell if there is a non-smoking side of the casino. Smokers are sitting around the casino smoking at machines, but not playing them. People are smoking in the casino even when it's not open. We always go to the casino early so for some reason haven't been that close to any smokers. There's a nice smoking area out by the pool but maybe smokers just go to the closest smoking area.
