Ski Mom 2 Posted April 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2022 Hopped on a quick Carnival cruise out of Mobile and thought it interesting their dining rooms were named Wind Star and Wind Song. Fascinated to discover ships models of both ships hence the names of the dining rooms! Anyone know the story? I’ll have to ask someone on board.
6rugrats Posted April 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2022 (edited) They are there because at one time (1989-2007) Windstar was part of the Carnival family. Edited April 2, 2022 by 6rugrats

Ski Mom 2 Posted April 12, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted April 12, 2022 I really hope when the Carnival Ecstasy is scrapped in October the ship models are returned to Windstar. They really re so cool and they make me ready to cruise WS again!
Petoonya Posted April 14, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2022 Was on Windsong in 1991 in Tahiti. In 2002 it caught fire and burned nearly down to the waterline. If I remember right it hung around Papeete for a bit. Then Carnival Corp and the FP government agreed to scuttle it, then sink in the channel between Tahiti and Moorea to become an artificial reef. Sad ending to a gorgeous ship, but one can enjoy it's twin Wind Spirit in Tahiti.
