Made me wonder...when do you head back to Texas for the summer? As a kid, I used to go camping on the Colorado River with friends. Pack everything up in the boats, find a cove, camp out and water ski. It was so much fun! When you mention getting supplies in Parker, I remember those days. But it was definitely not a summer activity. You're probably starting to miss Texas. ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ Maxine Maxine, we will probably head back to Texas in about two to three weeks or so. There are a few more things to take care of here. We'll also watch the weather since DH likes it to be cooler when we drive the motorhome back to Texas. The weather prediction has changed a little. Now our highs the next few days will be in the low 90s and then cooling off next week. Besides the heat, we also keep an eye on the wind predictions. High winds are not fun for driving and winds that are not tail winds are not fun. Actually, I'm not really missing Texas since it's very relaxing here. But we do not want to be here in the summer either. Texas can also be hot in the summer, but more humid. Until 2020, we were not in Texas in the summer, and hopefully, by next year, we can get away in the summers again. Even though Parker and Lake Havasu City attract winter visitors, they are a big summer draw because of the river and lake. Lenda

It's supposed to drop a good 20 degrees here in the next couple of days. But I bet it is super busy in summer now. I'd forgotten how much they've built up the area since back in the day. There was very little there at Lake Havasu when I was a kid. I'd forgotten that it's now a full resort area. DH and I need to make a trip to that area. To-do list. 😊
Cruzin Terri Posted April 7, 2022 #53 Share Posted April 7, 2022 Hello everyone, It is now 10:38 Barcelona time. I am finally coming alive. We were supposed to go out today and visit Sagrada Familia. However, the best laid plans….. You know the rest. We were so tired, we did nothing but sleep. Yesterday was supposed to be the rest day. As you all know, that did not happen. We both slept through the night, but still felt completely washed out today. So even though we had purchased our tickets for Sagrada Familia, we just let them go. We took long naps and then finally came to. We then went out and bought some wine to take on the ship and then went to a very nice Tapas restaurant near the hotel. The hotel has arranged for a doctor to visit us tomorrow in our room at 12 noon for a COVID test as required by Oceania for our sailing. As long as we are negative, Oceania will take care of us if we test positive at the terminal. We will have the results the same day. 25 Euros is pretty inexpensive for the convenience. I am surprised that we have yet to hear from American Airlines concerning the debacle on Tuesday regarding the flight from Miami to Barcelona. I really think some compensation is in order. There were a number of people who were going to miss their cruise on Viking because of this. Apparently there had been a cancellation the previous day and then the mess on Tuesday. They should be due some big compensation for that. Anyway, we seem to have gotten over most of our jet lag and will venture out tomorrow to Mount Juic and Poble Espanyol. We have decided not to go to Montserrat on this trip. Have been there a number of times and decided it is just too much like work. We are going to try to book Sagrada Familia again for the day the Nautica calls in Barcelona mid cruise. And with that my friends, I bid you good night. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate them. We keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers and celebrate with all of you who are on the shout out list—including ourselves. God bless. I think it was a hiccup on the NS's last sailing that a couple mentioned in Bill & Mary Ann's adventure had their two bottles of wine confiscated when they tried to board. They were under the impression it was a new policy. I think they ran into the same lady that gave us a hard time when we boarded in February. We wouldn't take her story and told her to call her manager and we were able to bring our bottles aboard after paying corkage. I bought some very nice wines in Spain to bring aboard the Konigsdam years ago. That is a great thing about Mediterranean ports of call. Prayers for all on Roy's care list and that Ukraine gets more military hardware. 🙏

They have kept most of the older buildings intact In the 25 years since we've been coming to Quartzsite, the place has really changed and gotten more crowded. Parker has also changed, but not so much. The old Bashas is now Food City. There is a Safeway out toward the CRIT Casino on AZ95. Wal-Mart also built a store across from Safeway several years ago. One of the biggest changes has been to the area along the river below the Parker Dam. DH's cousin had a house in one of the "communities" of doublewides along the river. Most of those communities have been torn down and fancy houses have replaced many of the doublewides. Lenda 14

Terri Terri, I'm glad you are finally rested and ready to see the sights tomorrow. I hope you can make it to Sagrada Familia on your port day. We toured it in 2001 when you could still walk up and buy your tickets, but then that was right after 9/11, so there weren't huge crowds. I'm glad the hotel could arrange your Covid tests and at a really decent cost. Hopefully, you'll hear something from the airline soon. There should be some compensation for that long of a delay. Enjoy your days in Barcelona and have a great cruise. Lenda Edited April 7, 2022 by Quartzsite Cruiser

So my question, what is the preference among the Dailyites? Dill in Tzatziki or no dill? I have never been to Greece (other than being stuck in the airport and not being allowed to deplane in the 80's) but I love Greek food in the local restaurants. To the best of my recollection I have never had a Gyro without dill. So I have to vote YES on Dill. Sometimes I think I must be the only person in the world who can't stand beer. Even the smell of beer will make me feel slightly nauseous. I never learned metric so I can't comprehend it at all. Jane 14 2

I am left with a slightly sore arm. Today is a lazy day. I have the pool and then I'm working on the program book for our conference at the end of the month. Today's meal is right up my alley. I eat a lot of fish and I'm always looking for new ways to cook it or new types of fish to try. Grilled Sea Bass with Garlic Butter sounds wonderful. Anything with garlic butter sounds wonderful to me. https://www.thespruceeats.com/grilled-sea-bass-with-garlic-butter-recipe-334370 Doesn't it look scrumptious? If you have a houseboat or are renting one in the near future, here is a recipe for you! I may pretend to be on a houseboat to try this one out here at home. I like the tomato shallot dressing. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/skinless-bass-recipes-for-houseboat-grilling-recipe-1945894 This one might be my favorite. It looks so good and the tomatoes just set it off perfectly. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/grilled-bass-with-buttery-tomatoes-3363937 Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine and our Daily family members in need. Cheers to those who are celebrating like @grapau27 celebrating Pauline's birthday with their Sarah. Wishing you all a wonderful day. Like many other parts of the country, we're due for some crazy weather the next few days. Yesterday was beautiful, in the low 60's F. Today is predicted to get up to 72 -- but then tomorrow and Saturday thunderstorms and the "s" word on Sunday (!!) I know it won't amount to much, but that's ridiculous. So I plan to get as much gardening done as I can today while the ground is dry. Good collection of days. The only beer I like is dark, preferably Guinness. Have never been to the port, but it's on the Grand Australia in 2 years. I appreciate the great photos that have been posted! Will pass on the drink. I would try the wine, but don't usually care for sweet wines. The meal sounds great, I think I'll make it with salmon tonight. Last night's take-out was a disappointment. Gyros sounded really good, and in the past we really liked the ones from a local restaurant. Well apparently since the last time we got them, they changed their Tzatziki sauce and it now has dill..... something I really don't care for at all. I've had gyros in Greece many times, they never had dill. So my question, what is the preference among the Dailyites? Dill in Tzatziki or no dill? Today is a red-letter day, the contractors will begin renovations on DS and DDIL's house. I'm so excited for them! They plan 6 months of renovations (they'll be doing a lot) so they won't move in until that is done. @seagarsmokerthank you for adding the labels to your photos so we know what we're seeing, it adds a lot and I appreciate it 🙂 @Norseh2oHappy 102nd birthday to your Dear Mom! She looks fantastic! My Dear Dad lived to 101 1/2, he looked good too. 🙂 Yes, spring in the northwest, isn't it lovely! AC is on now and by the weekend it will feel like winter again. 8

atexsix Posted April 7, 2022 #66 Share Posted April 7, 2022 I suppose I'll do a late check in. I really miss the daily, there's something comforting about all the familiar faces. Planning for our Princess cruise is well under way, I wish my heart were in it, but I really miss the familiar feel of HAL and its ships. I hope we don't regret this temporary stray. I won't get going on Medallion, but I'm finding it's making it harder, too much to remember and keep track of. If it wasn't for being paid in full, I'd be half inclined to just cancel the thing. Metric system, no. Grand Turk-a BIG YES! One of my favorite islands. Used to eat gyros a lot growing up outside Chicago, but nearly impossible to find in the Pacific Northwest, I don't think I've ever seen them in almost 30 years of living here. Thoughts/Prayers to all! ~Bruno

marshhawk Posted April 8, 2022 #75 Share Posted April 8, 2022 I've had a reaction to everyone of my shots, so not looking forward to getting the 4th, but getting it is better than getting ..... Well, looks like dill is winning......who knew. And now I want Greek food, but settled for a burger. Both DH and I will be working nights starting next week, at least i wont be lonely. AZ is asking me to work 35 hours for the next two weeks, but Hollywood bowl says nope, they got me first and will share me, so i do need to work 30 hours a week for the next two weeks. The bright side, well it will be a bigger pay check. The downside, i will have to learn to sleep past 6. Another upside, the big meal will be at noon, the down side, I have to get up fix breakfast and then prep lunch. Every silver lining has a cloud. 13
