dadof2brats Posted June 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2022 We leave next weekend 6/19 on the Discovery Princess. Is Princess still doing the "Puppies in the Piazza" where they bring the sled dog puppies onboard the ship during the cruise, or has that gone away with Covid? tutumomickey Posted June 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2022 According to a Patter posted from 6/5/22 it is now 'Puppies on Princess ' and was on the pool deck during Skagway. We are on this cruise as well and are counting on it so our granddaughters can see the dogs. We were unable to book any of the sled dog excursions.
Senga Posted June 12, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2022 They had this on our Grand Princess cruise last week and the lines were horrendous! Since we have a blue-eyed red husky grandpup, we gave it a miss.

We really wanted to see the puppies but from what I could tell we will be on our tour. I did think it would be half the ship 500+ people trying to see them. I guess that was a correct assumption
lbfluffy Posted June 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2022 We will be on the Discovery next Sunday too. I can’t wait.
pinotage Posted June 12, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2022 We were on a recent sailing. There were 3 overwhelmed puppies and well over 200 people waiting an hour to hold them for a photo op.
cigar connoisseur Posted June 14, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2022 Just got off the Discovery and yes, this was offered. It was on Deck 16 around 3 PM in Skagway.
linaka625 Posted June 14, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2022 I was on the Majestic last week. People must have been lined up a long time. I couldn't even see the puppies through the crowd. I felt bad for those poor dogs.
MudderBear Posted June 15, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 15, 2022 We were on the Majestic Princess and we had this too. They brought in two puppies in the pool are (next to Swirls). The people lined up to sit and hold the puppies for a photo. Sort of like a Character greeting at Walt Disney World.

They live indoors and get regular veterinarian care. They are well fed and happy. They also happen to love running and pulling a sled. I've been to the sled races in Laconia, New Hampshire several times. Those racing dogs are well treated and shown lots of love. As you can see by the love they give back to their handlers/owners. Nothing like Jack London's story.
