Just curious…does everyone get free drinks in the casino….on my last recent 2 cruises (3 weeks apart)…both my sister and I got free drinks while in the casino…and we were NOT under one of those deals….not that we didn’t enjoy the perk…

Not everyone but it does seem like they've been more liberal with handing out drinks on us than before COVID.

It wasn’t like a few free drinks…I’m talking completely free on an 8 and 10 day cruise 😃

If you were gambling, it's likely you earned drinks on us as a result of your gambling. After you attain so many points, you get drinks on us for the remainder of the cruise.

Nope….free from first minute in the casino…never made the required points on either cruise

I would say that you either booked a casino rate without realizing, or this is a new venture for Carnival - in which case I would have expected to hear more about it.

Not sure how the comp things on a cruise from the casino. I know I pumped quite a bit through the casino, mostly their money. They covered our steakhouse dinner and another dinner. We didn't realize that part until later in the cruise because we didn't tip either waiter. We thought it was just billed to our room with tips. Went back to both, explain to the manager, and gave both of them cash tips and explained the issue. All I mean by this is that you do get casino perks during the cruise.

The casino pays the gratuities on your behalf when you get things comped, FYI. But nobody will complain over an extra tip.

Yes, if you play heavy, they’ll comp you a dinner or two.

It is a very small amount which is why they service those who charge first

Do you what point level or generally how much you have to gamble to get DOU, and how they tell you?  We were recently on an 8 day Magic cruise, and my husband mentioned on day 5 or so one of the bartenders said “you haven’t gotten free drinks yet?”  He never did get them…I’m guessing it’s because although he plays for a long time, he plays at low bet tables (usually $6 blackjack).  I was curious though about how you are notified, just in case somehow he missed it!

Not our experience.  Have always received great service on our comped meals.

Meals on the DOU in the casino?  I reread your comment.  I meant very small tip on the DOU drinks and rare is the player that tips more.  The grat on comped meals is the same as paid tickets and more people seem to add a little extra for dinners.

Table players are rated subjectively by pit bosses.  Initial buy in, average bet, length of play, personality and tipping the dealers go into those ratings.  Slot players are measured objectively. Slot players earn 1 point for every $2.50 spin in the machines.  The DOU is earned at 1500 points on a 7+ day cruise.  Table players need to ask.  Slot players just look at the machine display.

In my experience; If you’re not betting blacks on the table, you can forget earning DOU.
we just recently bet green (table max was $50 on Heads Up Hold Em) and basically got ZERO for it.

we switched to playing slots, and earned 40k points between the both of us, then we got two steakhouse dinners (two separate nights)..wow..$180 worth of soft comps for going through $100k in slots (it takes $2.50 to earn a point)

If you don't have DOU and are playing for several hours, do they stop by you and ask if you want a drink or do you have to flag a server down and ask if you are eligible for a free drink?

You should check with the pit bosses or casino hosts if you are interested in your eligibility for comps.

before I got DOU offers I did have pit bosses buy me some drinks, they just took the receipt it was never on my S&S, but it was not a surprise.  I can say that the pit boss drinks took more than a minute to get to me, like 'take your time and let him keep tossing chips out there'.

With DOU its like the severs are waiting behind nearest pillar and know my name by day 2.  'Jiggs you ready for a Woodford rocks'.  More expensive pours get them bigger tips and I always toss them a buck or two.  At that point it almost seems as if the severs are competing to get your order.

I don't have my latest S&S charges in front of me, but if you did have a package it would show up there with a credit in the same amount from the casino.

The servers have no ability to give you a free drink, only the pit bosses or hosts.

They let you keep your sail and sign card in the machine, and just write down the folio number.  Some of them knew mine by heart before the week was over.

My wife and I usually find a bartender on the first night just as the casino is opening and make friends for the rest of the cruise.
