Some of the comments on there are very unfeeling and rude. I hope they never have to experience what you have.

I am amazed by your patience on the Princess board. There are  a lot of unsympathetic posters over there,  who have not taken the trouble to fully read and understand your excellent post, and have posted some "unhelpful " comments.

I guess I should have known better. I don't as a rule do any social media, this forum is the only place I comment.  Everyone is entitled to a view, that's fine but I can't understand the almost joy some are taking in attacking.

I can’t begin to imagine how I’d feel in your position and having read the thread on the Princess board I’m furious on your behalf. Princess have completely dropped the ball on this and should hang their heads in shame.

I haven't read the Princess forum, but I must have seen your post on here just after you put it up. I was surprised that when I came on the next time it had gone. 

 

Although it won't help you with the Princess situation, it's good to hear that P&O would have done things differently. I have recently seen on the other side (the unmentionable, not Princess) that someone had had to isolate in Malta due to Covid (fly cruise) and that P&O had been great with them. 

 

I hope your Aunt makes an improvement soon and that things get sorted out better than they have been so far.

Just had a read lots of lovely support on PC board  from most, but as they say ,you get one every now and again .

Nice to read you have great support on here as well. From one HF victim ,sounds like your relation is a fighter and I wish her and you all the very best . 

The Princess payment will get sorted one day and until then the main thing is your own health and the well being of your Aunt . Take care

I have further news and an update from Italy.  The insurance company has agreed for my aunt to be moved to a specialist cardiac facility in central Rome.  Apparently she was awake for a few minutes while they started the preparations for the move and she mumbled she had been kidnapped.  Great news.

I’m really sorry to read of the ordeal suffered by your aunt and yourself, Megabear. And you, of all people, have the ability to resolve problems. 
 

You did absolutely everything within your power - nobody could have done more.

 

Your aunt will now be in excellent hands, quite possibly getting better care in the Italian healthcare system than she would here as things stand now. 
 

I hope things work out well for her. Thank goodness she had you for support, and to argue her case.

Thanks for the note. I returned to read her post. Wished I hadn't the following one is so vicious it's reduced me to tears.  I don't think I'll return there now and will stick to my golden rule, no social media and friends only.

Having read the latest spiteful attacks on me I have resorted to reporting one individual for her very personal attacks on me.  I am extremely sad to do this as I believe entirely in free speech. I do however draw the line at someone reducing me to tears.

 

Today is an extremely difficult day for me as it is the anniversary of my father's death in very difficult circumstances.  Added to the situation in Italy the straw has broken my back.

Have just read the whole of the Princess thread. Wow!  I'm appalled by the absence of any duty of care from Princess for you during a frightening and distressing situation.  The catalogue of failures and their indifference and belligerence beggar belief!  It's certainly not the response you would expect or hope for when faced with a crisis during a cruise.  Food for thought with respect to Princess. 

 

The lack of compassion demonstrated by some posters on the thread is a very sad reflection of how nasty some people can be.  Just why?  You have been very restrained and reasonable in the face of some very unpleasant comments. I hope you can dismiss those and concentrate on the many good wishes from the vast majority of posters. 

 

I too send very best wishes to you and hopes for your Aunt's recovery.

I am terribly sorry to read about all of this.  The move to the new hospital sounds positive and I will keep my fingers crossed for your aunt.

Don't let a heartless self centred person get you down ,they are not worth it .

On the positives ,look at the wonderful people on PC who are asking you to

"Let them know how your Aunt gets on ?"  You have enough on your plate without 

the other persons input .Thoughts for your Dad today .

Like you I don’t do any social media, only very recently on this forum. I was most grateful for all the time and trouble you took highlighting the insurance situation and the excellent advice which I took and was able to clarify my position with my travel insurance company. You didn’t have to tell us all what you had found but I gathered you are a very kind and caring person and wanted to let as many people know, which is the same as sharing your recent experience so as many people as possible are forewarned should they find themselves in the same unfortunate position. Please don’t let a minority stop you posting anything that will inform so many of us. Take care.

Thank you very much for your kind comments.  I'm glad I could offer some help to you previously.

 

My aunt has been transferred to a private cardiac unit in central Rome where she remains in a critical condition. I'm told she has now developed pneumonia on top of her other problems.  Her sister is being allowed to see her today which is a blessing. We continue to pray and hope for the best.

 

Personally I am shattered and still on the end of yet more incompetence from various sources. For instance a short time ago I took a call from the insurance global assistance team who appear to believe I am still in Rome as my aunt's companion! A bit rich when they categorically refused on Saturday afternoon to allow this to happen.

 

I was then treated to a barrage of questions about the hospital my aunt has moved to despite my explanation that I could not discuss this as my brother in law holds a POA and her sister is in Rome.  I was then told that my brother in law was at the dentist so I was required to help.  

 

The whole thing is a comedy of errors I'm afraid. My stress levels were high, now after this they're heading off the scale.

 

The only good thing is the abuse on the Princess board can no longer happen.
