Gallery Bar on Eurodam

On board the Eurodam currently and am very sad to see the Gallery Bar has been converted into an extension of the casino with a bunch of slot machines.  Is this recent?  When I was on a few years back the gallery bar was one of the best spots on board for non gambling table games.

I wonder if there is some kind of tournament on board.  On the koningsdam last year they filled the ocean bar with slots and people were very upset about it.  Once the tournament was over the slots were gone too.  The gallery bar is nice so hopefully it’s not permanent.

That gives me hope.  I think we've all noticed that the cruise lines are struggling to increase their on board revenue due to sailing at lower capacities.  I hope they revert the gallery bar back.  I'll take some photos and post.

Are all the pictures still on the wall?  That’s what I really liked about that bar.  If they are that gives me hope.

I was on the June 18th sailing and the area with pictures and couches was closed off doing construction.   Seems we now know what they did.

Sounds like it may be permanent given the construction.

This area is one more of an example of an area on a HAL ship that is designed with no clear, long term intent in mind.  First, a disco.  Well, that didn't turn out so well.  Then, the Gallery Bar.  The same thing can be said about the Atrium Bar area.

I agree.  On all of my cruises the space was rarely used by people.  Only time I ever saw it busy was when they were showing the NFL games in there last fall.

There is a $25,000 slot tournament onboard the Eurodam Nov 9th. I am sure you will start to see changes on many of HAL's ships in the casino area as they need space to incorporate onboard sports wagering. Maybe the sports bars will be making a return.

A sports bar with live telecasts with nachos and chicken wings is another good idea.

Put slot machines in there and people will use it!

I am curious as to how to find out if a slot tournament is on a sailing.

Thanks for posting these date.  I will add them to the next issue of the Dry Dock, Charters and Groups post.

Perhaps you could post updates when you receive them and I will add them to the Charters & Groups Listings?

The walls are the same but the tables and couches are gone and the machines look fairly permanent.  The bartender nearby said the games had been moved up to the lido are but I found them in the lecture area of the crows nest.  Too bad it wasn't better used.  It was kind of a hidden place that was unique for casual non gambling gaming and watching sports.

Princess has sports betting through their app which is better execution in my opinion than dedicating a specific room to it.  However, only a handful of their ships actually have a sports bar and only one ship has it separate of the smomig area.

I have been wondering when that is going to soon arrive on a HAL ship.  It is a logical progression from the ridiculous odds Lottery that is now offered.

People on here were very upset they had to use/have a smartphone to look at menus.  It turned out to be nothing as I suspected because they had paper menus.  I’m thinking most won’t use a phone for betting.

Gallery Bar was always claustrophobic to me, and I never spent time in there, unless to pass through.

For years HAL tried to get me to have my group cocktail parties there, and  I always refused.  We're on a ship with beautiful views; why would I choose a place without windows ??  I can do that on land.
