SlightDraw Posted August 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Going from Boston to New England, Canada. Just read about the need to have this app and to upload all travel and Covid information. It seems like a copy of all the stuff we need to do with Royal. Anybody have information on this?
smokeybandit Posted August 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2022 You need an ArriveCAN submission, but you don't need the app to do it

Rare twangster Posted August 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2022 It largely is a duplicate of what you provide to Royal but Royal doesn't and can't submit it to Canada on your behalf. Canada requires you submit it and that you attest your submission is truthful. I don't like it but it's requirement imposed by Canada to go there so it is what it is.
Joseph2017China Posted August 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Many countries require you to submit your info to their health departments. What the cruise line collects is for the cruise line, not the various governments.
Arubamoose Posted August 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I downloaded it and filled it out for our cruise in three days. Received an email from them and printed out the QR code just as a back up.

davekathy Posted August 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) We had to do something similar when we cruised out of San Juan in March. No biggie. Then just prior to our sail date Puerto Rico dropped the requirement. Our flights got screwed up heading to San Juan which put us in St Thomas over night. St. Thomas also required a similar document be filled out prior to entering St. Thomas. We found out the hard way when security (military) wouldn't let us proceed to baggage claim until we stood there at a counter and filled out pages of paper work. Thanks, JetBlue!!! 🤬 Doing the ArriveCAN for our September NE/Canada cruise. Edited August 8, 2022 by davekathy
PNW Traveler Posted August 8, 2022 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2022 ArriveCAN information links directly to your passport number. When crossing from the U.S. into Canada and Canada into the U.S. this makes the process more efficient for all involved.
LB_NJ Posted August 8, 2022 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I filled it out on my laptop. You don't need the app. No one ever asked for the printout so not sure how it actually gets used.
CruiseWendy Posted August 8, 2022 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2022 It's a Canadian customs form so it does need to be filled out. I downloaded the app and fill out the information prior to our cruise next week. Makes it easier to submit later in the week.
KATHYMAC68 Posted August 8, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2022 How far in advance can you fill this out? My cruise is 60 days away.

They want it done within 72 hours of your entering Canada. If you try before the 72 hours you will get a notice to try again when you are within the 72 hrs.

You are registering your arrival to the country of Canada (even if you don't get off the ship). RCCL is required to verify that you have a QR code from Canada. And remember, Canada has very strict rules about criminal history... so if you have a DUI on your record, you will be denied entry to Canada.

You don't need to test to enter Canada. Just complete ArriveCan before entering. You DO need to test before boarding a cruise ship and may need to complete ArriveCAN again. If you are fully vaccinated and have no symptoms and complete your ArriveCAN submission within 72 of arriving you are NOT required to have a neg. covid test. The ArriveCAN is no big deal!! Takes seconds to do and uses you passport to identify you ( NEXUS to if you use that). You are much better to get important information from here https://www.canada.ca/en/border-services-agency/services/arrivecan.html
Rare rudeney Posted August 9, 2022 #23 Share Posted August 9, 2022 Current testing and vaccine requirements for cruises to Canada: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/cruise Excerpts: Vaccination requirements To embark on a cruise ship that will start, dock or end in Canada, if you’re 12 years of age or older, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with very few exceptions. Pre-embarkation COVID-19 testing All travellers 5 years of age or older must have a COVID-19 test to board a cruise ship in Canada or to board a cruise ship that will dock in Canada at any point on the cruise.

Just got this from the CA web site for vaccinated travelers: Pre-entry testing is not required Pre-entry tests are not required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada by land, air or water. You must still use ArriveCAN within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada. Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children under the age of 12 are not required to provide a valid pre-entry test result, if they are accompanying a fully vaccinated adult. Children who are less than 5 years old are not required to test, regardless of their vaccination status.

If you scroll down a little further on that page it states that it’s still mandatory for all arriving by cruise ship. I wish they would simplify the website.
