WiFi calling on Quantum

I did a search, but didn’t see a definitive answer..

 

Specific to Quantum, can I use the ships WiFi for WiFi calling, with the Voom purchased of course? 
I ask  because  I have encountered situations where purchased temporary WiFi had calling blocked- onboard an airliner, for example.

And if WiFi calling works, does that include texts as well?

Yes, you can use wifi calling with voom on Quantum but the wifi was not great on our May Quantum sailing.  When we did have decent wifi, I had no issues making calls or messaging on my iphone.

Wifi calling, including texts, should work on any ship in the RCI fleet using Voom.

Assuming, of course, that you have Wifi Calling set up on your phone before you leave on the cruise.

 I had very few issues with WiFi calling, text, or surfing during our cruise on Quantum Aug - Sep of this year.

"Should" is the key word. We were on the Wonder of the Seas in March and wifi calling with AT&T did not work. We heard that it worked for other carriers. We tried to switch to an AT&T cruise ship plan and that also did not work on the Wonder back then. Hopefully, all of those bugs have been resolve by now.

Satellite internet is sketchy in Alaska for all ships but WiFi calling still worked for me in May.  It would sometimes break up but cell phones do that sometimes.
