Hi!

Currently on Meraviglia for a TA.  Open to questions, and have 2 weeks left to run around to scare up answers.

All the best to all CC users.

What is your itinerary?   What accommodations are yours?  YC?  Thanks for posting and I will be following along.

We will be joining on Oct 13 for 10 days from Port Canaveral.  I heard they were allowing smoking in the casino despite that per the report the signs in the casino say non smoking?  If true, I hope they stop it once cruising from the US.  Thanks

No smoking on Seashore in the casino back in august. Does MSC’s smoking policy depend on location?

Hi Paphillygy,

checked on the MSC App, consulted with the YC concierge and attended at the casino. Smoking is indeed allowed, on the side of the slot machines (left of the entrance when coming from the Plaza). The room does smell (mildly) of tobacco. Cigars are not allowed.

Genoa, Ajaccio, sea, Málaga, sea (today), Funchal, 5 sea days, Bridgetown, St-Martiin, Fort-de-France, Philipsburg, 2 sea days, Ocean Cay, misery.

We are in YC, cabin 18012.  Our attendant, Meri, is a gift from heaven.

We're onboard now also. Just sailing past Gibraltar.

About 1300 will still be aboard for the TA

That feels about right. It’s kind of weird to go to the Plaza and see it almost empty.  And today is a sea day.

checked out the infinity pool and there were numerous free deck chairs.  Ditto for the lido deck, even the loungers in the pool are more than half available, and it’s nice, sunny and warm.

While it’s certainly not super enjoyable to have to jostle for room, chairs, etc., I must admit that I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more people.

This is disappointing but will save me some money I suppose.  On both US sailings I have been on in the past year smoking was not allowed.  I am not sure if when they get to the US the smoking will stop.

We are coming on her at the end of the month.  Curious who YC and Hotel Directors are, as well as the YC Maitre 'd.  I assume they will stay on the ship for a few months at least.  Thanks, and enjoy your cruise!

We boarded a day before you in Marseille.

Our first MSC, an alternative to flying home after port intensive B2B on Windstar.

We left the US on Sept 5th.

Just basic MSC experience for us. Quite nice actually likely due to low numbers.

Our cabin attendant said they were almost full thru to Barcelona. He is responsible for 21 cabins - all occupied. Now only 7 are

On our TA to Europe in April (NCL Escape in the Haven) the ship had 1500 passengers and 1500 crew, but all Haven cabins were fully booked.

Hi Jagr,

Very honored to get back to questions you ask of me, as you are quite a reference on this forum.

Hotel director: Robert Moik (Austria) - info from cabin TV

YC director: Alessandro Messina - info from concierge

Maître d’: Stoicanescu George - info from concierge

Kindest regards, 1/2 way from Gibraltar to Funchal.

Thank you so much, for both the information and kind words.  Robert was on Seaside for the build in Italy and the first year in the Caribbean.  He came to MSC from a long stint at Princess.  Very professional, but also outgoing.  Alessandro has been on Seaview for some time.  I hope your sailing  goes well!

Hello,

Never been on this ship and just booked for Spring Break '23. I noticed on some of the drink packages it mentions one of the perks as "soft serve ice cream". If I do not buy any tier drink package, are there any FREE ice cream options for my kids? .....I might have a few too!😉

Thanks

Every lunch and dinner in the MDR is complimentary. Have as many as you can eat. Soft serve only with drink package is it free. It is worth mentioning again that the gelato is $4 for one scoop and $6 for two scoops. The third soft serve ice cream machine was not working out at the adult only Infinity Pool. The one outside of the Market Place buffet at the Jungle Pool gelato station works and opened at 1pm. One morning at the Long Island pool I saw the soft serve ice cream machines filled and ready to serve (7 am). I inquired. The cones of soft serve are $5, Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri ...Or a blend of both called a "Miami Vice". All non alcoholic. The soft serve ice cream is included in the non-alcoholic and kid's beverage packages. Ice cream sundaes are complimentary for dessert every lunch and dinner in all the MDRs.

Read a few posts that around 3:30 to 4:30 there is another soft serve machine in the buffet complimentary being handed out, chocolate or vanilla. Will check this out next week. I think this is important to locate the exact 'hidden' location in the buffet.

P.S. Sorry..... I am talking about Seashore..

What happens on Seashore stays on Seashore! 😉 In actuality, you are not too far off.  The Atmosphere pool area (like Seashore's Jungle Pool) has the Atmosphere Ice Cream Bar.  I don't believe it has gelato, but does have soft serve ice cream.

We will be cruising in early November and would like to know if the Houdini and Rock Circus shows in the Carousel Lounge were good.

Thanks!

We liked Houdini. Lots going on at the same time. Heard one complaint that the 3 free drinks offered weren't to their liking but they were fine for us?

We will see the next performance of Rock.

Hi Zephyr173! We are following this post, and are excited that we will have the exact cabin in a few weeks out of Port Canaveral! Any pros or cons to your cabin? Glad to hear that your cabin attendant is a gem. We hope you have a wonderful time!

Hi Jethapgun,

the cabin is as advertised by MSC. It is lavishly appointed and comfortable.

Pros : oh yes, the YC service. I think the balcony furniture is more roomy than on Divina (table)

cons : there are 2 3-way power switches, and it took me 2 days to figure them out.  That’s really a first-world problem.
Want pictures? Or keep the surprise?

Zephyr173 - If possible would you ask for the expected Capacity numbers from Customer Service for the 16 October Port Canaveral Sailing?  Please don't go out of your way, but if they happen to have them thanks in advance!

Cheers

I will go out of my way and get an answer, but…. You’re an expert.

Who would be the right source for your question?

Let me know ASAP. We have the usual event with upper brass at YC tomorrow AM (I’m at GMT from tonight).
