Group Booking/Dining Reservations

I would to it anyone has the answer why it is is seemly impossible to link dining reservation when people in your party have used different different TA and booked with a different group reservations.  We are a party of 13.  Nine book with one TA in a group. The other 4 booked with with a different TA in two other groups.  We have been trying for months to reserve 2 tables adjacent to each other.  Two different members have tried to link the reservation one linking 6 and the other linking 7.  NOT POSSIBLE!  Repeated calls have been made to Celebrity and still awaiting a resolution.  This should be simple but has become a true head ache.

I've found the same in trying to link reservations.    The only work around we found was that one of the agents were able to link my reservation to someone in a group reservation but I couldn't with a direct reservation with Celebrity.

Also ran into a problem recently with two reservations I made with the same agent but one is for my SIL from the UK.   I tried to make a dinner reservation and it rejected saying they were in different currencies even though I'm paying for both on the same credit card.  My agent was able to get Celebrity to resolve.

I personally do not understand why reservations can not be linked for dining in main dining room no mater how you have booked. What difference should it make if you are booked in a group with TA, couple with TA or direct with Celebrity?  You want to dine with with friends, and they make it impossible to accomplish.  Also, appears that even TA’s have difficulty.

I had the same problem this week. I tried to link my daughter and her husband with my dinner reservations and got a reply saying it couldn’t be done as we were booked in different currencies, etc.  Celebrity customer service was no help in resolving the issue.

There is no doubt in my mind that Celebrity is a far better choice that any Princess ship .  Personally , there are only 2 lines that I  like to sail one is this line & the other is Holland America & especially for Alaska .

Holland America brings in board a specialist in Alaska  to explain every thing

Can't you just work this out with maitre d ..once on board.  Head to dining rm as soon as you board..

Shoreside and on ship..two different worlds!

Yes, we can do that, but that does not solve the issue of linking reservation.  There is an option on the site, but it will not allow.

Going thru same exact thing. Family of 17. 8 cabins. Booked through same travel agent but rates came from 2 different groups she had. Told we all have early seating but will need to see maitre d when we get on board to work out table assignments and placement. We got great pricing but it’s a hassle you don’t want on vacation..

They keep telling one of our members to call back. They have sent a request and to check to see if it is accepted.  Why would you want the dining staff to arrange on embarkation day when they could have a.heads up in advance.

I tried to link 2 other couples to our reservation as well.  I think both are booked with a TA.  After several attempts the two couples reservation numbers showed as linked to ours.  However, I was still not able to make reservations for them.  We have anytime dining and each couple made their own reservation.  Now I have one couples reservation showing up on our "manage my reservation" page.  I clicked on it when I was going to make our final payment without realizing it was theirs.  Thankfully I discovered it before going any further.  I have emailed my CVP twice now with no response.  I guess I am going to have to call in to get things resolved.

You could try emailing the dining team your reservation numbers and preferred times if the phone support isn't working out.

Today (10/17)  reply from Celebrity representative: All 13 traveling should make the same dining reservation and then on the first night go to dining room and the Maitre d’ will take care of seating us together or at two near tables.   So all 13 are in the process of making individual reservations.  This is a NYE cruise which I am sure will be at capacity.

it seems like the a very inefficient way to handle and putting a great deal of work on onboard staff which could have a heads up in advance.  Again, why can’t this be done with reservation numbers on site.  I can’t begin to tell you how many calls have been trying to resolve this.

Yes it is an option but to have 6 couples plus one single make individual dining arrangement for what would presumably be a two top appears to me to give the dining staff onboard a lot of time and trouble.  They then have to rearrange to a one 6 and one 7 top. Sorry to say, it seems totally unnecessary!

Have you emailed the CEO and/or Customer Service?  I am not saying it’s the best way but some people get results.

This has gone on for months. Telephone call after telephone call and each time a different answer .  Booking 7 individual was the last answer so that is what everyone has done.  In my opinion stupid, but maybe Celebrity has an answer why they can not or will not hook reservations.

Back in 2015 our TA booked us 5 cabins and we had Select dining in the MDR. Our TA was able to make reservations for all 11 of us at one large table for the same time each night.

This year we sailed with friends from the England. I linked our reservations and tried to book a excursion and got the note saying they were in a different currency. But I was going to use their OBC.😖

Celebrity in the old days would monitor these boards so I hopeful that they will see and correct.  Wishful😇
