🍹North to Bermuda, Mariner Live - Oct 16, 2022

I just got off Mariner yesterday the 16th. We had all but our last day in Bermuda rained out. We loved Bermuda and wished we would have been able to do more.

 

Cafe Promenade was one of our favorite spots.

Ok, so it's already Tuesday, and I'm still stuck on Sunday.  I need to step up.

 

Karaoke was a blast.  I sang I'm a Believer, Laura danced. Then I sang, or actually shouted, I Saw Her Standing There, and Laura danced. 

 

The girs stumbled through Girls Just Want to Have Fun. It was bad. 🤣🤣

 

 

The crowd was over the top

 

My last drink was the not quite Tokyo Tea I mentioned earlier. After that it was time for pizza. It was good again. Very happy with the pizza. Then off to the closed helipad, then bed

 

Guess I'll do Monday, tomorrow 

 

Good night for the drink list. Almost halfway though. 😁👍

Apologies for melancholy post. Yesterday was a great day. 😁

 

After breakfast spent a couple hours at pool. No chair hogs at 10 am, but it got crowded by noon.

 

2 hours in sun was plenty, so off to the Jammer. Traffic jam at the washing stations, but moved quickly

 

Found my Mexican Corn salad, and fajita bar

 

FWIW, the fajita station is set up backwards. You have to walk past it,  then work yourvway back to front. Some folks couldn't grasp that concept. 

 

Plaza bar has Newcastle 🍺

But still a little early for me

 

Oh, and after lunch I found a box of C&A truffles in cabin, maybe I am getting my gifts after all.

Hung out in cabin for a bit trying to catch up with you all when Mikey called to invite me for a cigar. Sounds fun, so off I go. Told Laura I'd be back at 3:30

Great conversation over a cheap cigar. Gotta love it. Headed back to cabin so the wife could model her new bathing suit. Gave it a big thumbs up 👍

 

Gotta head to the Pub for pre dinner cocktails. Tonight is formal disco night. Odd combination. I backed glow sticks for the group. Not sure of the quality or the age

 

Brought the bracelets to the pub, will go back for necklaces later. Or will I 🤔

Switching topics, from various trip reports, the WJ on Mariner seems to have stuff I didn't see on Indy that I wish I had. Maybe it will be a bit different next week. I know at least one dinner theme has changed; there was no British night in July but there is now.

Got sidetracked on the way down and had a zombie in tiki bar with Ellen. Not my favorite. To many competing flavors. Cute glass, but they don't leave the Bamboo Room

 

Since it's a $15 drink, I was on the hook for the $1 overage. Fine with that. Plus I added a tip to receipt.

From our B5B experience on Mariner in July and August, the nightly themes and what they prepared seemed to change quite a bit between the Bermuda cruise, the ABC cruise (both 8 night), and the 5-nighters that were wrapped around them. The themes on both the ABC and Bermuda cruises were the same, but on the ABC they did a properly themed made to order (i.e. Mongolian hot pot stir fry on china night), but on the Bermuda cruise china night, the stir fry station was closed. On the 5-nighters, it seemed like every night was Taco Tuesday at the stir fry station regardless of what the evening theme was.

Just checked the app b/c I'm bored and you made me hungry. I see why I felt that way. Mariner has themes I would enjoy like Tex-Mex, China, India, etc. Indy had the other ones in July on my B2B... American, Caribbean, Italian, and Mediterranean. They've since replaced Mediterranean with British for the current 4-nighters.

 

No big deal; there was Indian everyday for both lunch and dinner and we're actually only planning to do WJ as our main dinner once next week since it's just the 4 nights. I'll still pop in either before or after we eat elsewhere; never know when you'll find a unique item or two that's appealing.
