Okay, okay, pictures of food, menus and most importantly, mojitos?  Raices is now the #1 choice for dinner in San Juan.  Mojitos while waiting for our name to be called? Sign me up!

I went back and checked and you stated you are getting into San Juan early in the morning so that means you need a good lunch spot too.

We went to Barrachina home to the original Pina Colada.

It's within walking distance  of the Casablanca.

There Pina Colada's are amazing. They use no ice but it is so creamy.

The food is amazing too. I had the friend plantain stuffed with seafood.

Highly recommend this for lunch.

We’ve been to Barrachina on every visit to San Juan and we’ll definitely stop there again this trip. I agree their pina colada’s are amazing and I really love the ambience of that little courtyard where the bar is.

One day closer!  Packing edit is almost done.  The long range weather forecast shows we may have some rain towards the end of the cruise, meaning St Thomas and San Juan.  Hopefully it changes for the better before then.

No our bedroom isn’t decorated in a “Cars” theme, this is the room my grandsons sleep in when they’re here.

I also started pulling together odds and ends, most will go in a backpack or tote bag.  I still need to pick up my two bottles of wine. Even though I have the drink package, I still like to be able to just pour myself a glass to sit on the balcony or to sip on while I do my makeup before dinner.
Today I’m off to Target for a few last minute things, including some rain ponchos I hope will not be needed.

Please note my “vintage” Kindle, circa 2009 or 2010 think?  My whole family makes fun of me but it still works and I’m used to it.  It’s like the Atari of e-readers LOL.

I also ordered these travel type journals from Amazon.  I wish I’d done this several cruises ago.

I know some tech people that highly prize the extremely early Kindles for the emergency internet connection for basic stuff.   They came with a free data connection, although I think I saw news that they just recently cancelled that.

Another place in San Juan with great family memories. I always make a stop when I'm in Puerto Rico.

Had to read it twice before I spotted it. Your eye just auto corrects small errors and they aren't noticeable

As a somewhat (OK...full blown) perfectionist, typos are one of my biggest concerns.  I'd advise you to ignore them as much as you can.  No matter what you actually type, we'll know what you mean.  Easier said than doen though.  And I puposely left the mistakes in this reply to make a point, but it was really hard to do!

Thanks. I spotted doen  quick enough but missed puposely even after rereading 3 times.

I like to think my eyes were auto-correcting for me, at least 50% of the time. 😄

I remember reading a paragraph someplace where the top half of every letter was erased.  It was amazing how the brain can pretty quickly figure out what it's reading, even with half the information missing.

I read something similar but where each word only had the first and last letter with blank spaces representing the missing letters. Your brain filled in the missing letters pretty quickly and was able to guess correctly 95% of the words without too much effort. Something like this:

Like @HBE4 I only found one in the original post, so thanks for clarifying.  I’m usually very detail oriented but I find I’m less so as I get older.  Andy would disagree. He thinks I still find plenty of “details” to nag him about 🙂.

Love it!  I'm so looking forward to meeting the two of you on our Bella Cruise!😊

Is Barrachina in walking distance to where the ship docks?  I'll be in SJ prior to our Bella cruise...

What a great idea!  Jim has used little notebooks to write about some trips we've taken.  (Great Christmas gift idea!)

It is very walkable. Of course, one's level of mobility factors in. But Old San Juan is really fairly compact and I find it easy to walk to just about anyplace there. Though the walk out to El Moro is longer than it looks from the road!

Thank you, OB!  If I remember right, didn't you write about walking around Old San Juan, starting by making a left from the Port and continuing along the road in that direction?

Bon Voyage, Deb and Andy! I am a little late to this party as I just saw it mentioned on Dani’s thread. Thank you for taking the time to share your cruise vacation with the readers here on CC.

Hoping you enjoy the repositioning cruise. My hubby and I have done two on Princess out of NY. We find  them relaxing and have enjoyed the sea days as well visiting various ports.

Looking forward to your posts.

Wishing you fair skies and calm seas !

Thanks for following, I hope it’s a great cruise!

I will be following along as well.  We are due to be on Voyager the first week of December out of San Juan.  This was the first ship I was on in 2004.  I am looking forward to your reports as to how the ship has held up.  Thanks again for taking the time to do the review.

We were planning to just play it by ear as far as food in SJ, but it seems like we need to look into Raices.  The one place on my list was Cafe Mallorca for their breakfast Mallorca’s.

I agree, I love Cafe Mallorca.😀
