Southampton to Iceland and Norway

We found a very nice cruise for May 2023 that leaves out of Southampton and goes to Iceland and Norway. Has anyone taken this cruise? My husband suffers from motion sickness so it's a concern about how rough the seas can be in this area since it's going to take 3 days to get back to Southampton from Reykjavik. Thank you for your help!

The seas could be rough. They might be calm. Nobody is going to be able to predict more than about a week in advance.  If your husband has issues with the motion of the ocean,  he needs to be prepared every day he is on a ship.

We understand it can be a hit and miss, we're just wondering what experience others may have had.  Did you experience rough or calm seas?

In that area, I've experienced rough seas. In that area, I've experienced calm seas.

 

What relevance or help is it to know what others have experienced in the past? It doesn't tell you anything about whether you will have rough or calm seas if you do the cruise next year. As a wise man once said, predictions are very difficult - particularly about the future.

 

If this is a serious concern for your husband, then maybe a cruise is not actually a good idea? You can get rough seas anywhere.

LOL, we did a British Isles cruise and there was the remnants of a hurricane, a horrible weather day the day before when we were in London and some rough seas on our first day of sailing. But this really has no relevance to your sailing.

You never know with the North Atlantic. We did a cruise  (2011 I think) on Celebrity Eclipse to Iceland (2 stops), Faroe Islands and Norway (3 or 4 stops) in July and it was like a millpond the whole way...just a bit rainy on some days. You just never know what you are going to get!

This will be cruise #41 for us, so when everyone we have talked kept telling us how rough the seas are to Iceland, we wanted to know what cruisers on CC have experienced. Gives us an idea if it's ALL THE TIME or a hit and miss.

We’re doing an Iceland & Norway cruise in June.   Reading about the potential for rough seas, I guess we’ll need to have a good supply of Bonine on hand 😀

What we have experienced is all anecdotal. With your experience, you probably should know that anything is possible.
