Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

I think the quote makes sense, sort of.

Good selection of days but I'm not hugging any bears today.

I love Chili so I'm sure I would like the meal.

We stopped in  Cabo San Lucas on a cruise in 1984 when it was not much of a place to visit, unbelievable what it's like now, my son and family visit a beautiful resort there every year on a time share.

Another hour and I will be on the phone trying to make the appointment with the hand specialist to get this finger infection cleared up, I need to get back on the golf course plus we have a cruise coming up.

My hip arthritis is worse than expected which my doctor confirmed this morning.

He said a new hip has a 10-15 year life expectancy so at aged 66 I said I would wait as long as I can before an op.

Thank you for today's daily reports.

We have donated cash for years to cancer research and cancer awareness is extremely important.

We have a number of soft toy bears and monkey's that Pauline hugs.

I will give today's food and drink a miss.

Prayers 🙏 and hugs for everyone who need them.

A lot of my golf buddies have had hip surgery and have done very well, as my orthopedic knee doctor tells me, " you'll know when you will need surgery".

Just remember the three things to do if you hug a bear. If it’s a brown bear, stay still, do not move. If it’s a brown bear stand tall with hands raised. If it’s a polar bear you can kiss you a__ goodby!

Good Morning from the Nieuw Amsterdam.  Thanks for the daily fleet report.  We had a wonderful dinner in the Tamarind last night and are going back tonight.  It was a bit bumpy overnight but seems to have calmed down this morning.  I'm not sure if we are getting off the ship today.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

Graham, I was told the same thing on Friday regarding needing  hip replacement fairly soon. I am 68 but having a lot of difficulty walking. I will try the injection first to hold things off for a while, I hope. I am sorry that you are also experiencing this and hope you can find relief soon.

Good morning friends!  It was 65F with dense fog when I got up to exercise.  Should be a mix of clouds and sun with a high of 81 later on.  Thank you Rich @richwmnfor the Daily and Fleet Report.  I totally support cancer awareness being a melanoma survivor.  Only bears I'm hugging are teddy bears, or possibly koala bears.  🧸🐨  Retinol is an important ingredient in some skin creams because of its anti-aging effects.  The chili pie with the cornbread crust would be interesting to see.  I would give it a taste.  The port of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is very popular and Rich last posted it on May 14, 2021.  The link below will take you to your photos if needed.

 

Prayers to all on the Care list.  I said mine bright and early.  Another neighbor about 5 houses up the street passed away yesterday at home, but I don't know them well so it was a surprise to me.  I hope he passed peacefully and send prayers to his wife and family.  It seems we hear of deaths constantly anymore.  Neighbor Linda has had lots of visitors lately so she is probably feeling much better.  Cheers to all our members cruising and all on the Celebration list.  🥂   

 

 

Cabo San Lucas is a popular port so I'm sure many of us have been there.  For me it was 2005 on the old Regal Princess, 2012 on Star Princess and 2016 on Westerdam while on a Panama Canal full transit.  

 

On that first cruise we took a tour boat ride which took us up close to El Arco.  The seas were pretty rough that day and I remember how tough that was on everyone's stomachs!  Let's just call it an adventure!

 

On the opposite side of the arch we saw this hidden beach.

It's a busy, vibrant town and very popular with the tourists.

Good morning, everyone!

 

It will be a sunny day here in mid-Michigan with temperatures in the mid 50s.  Still lots of boxes to get through.  I may add to the trash pile that previous owners left out front.  I need to check to find out when the big item trash removal is so that I know how to time my donations.  Trash day is on Friday with recycles on the third Friday.  

 

I love chili, but would pass on the cornbread.  Normally I am not a fan, but the time I hiked Grand Canyon I certainly appreciated it.  We  hiked down the Kaibab Trail to Phantom Ranch where we camped for the night.  We had made arrangements for dinner at Phantom Ranch and they served beef stew (don't care for it) with cornbread (not my favorite) and coleslaw (ok by me).  It was all so good I had seconds.  I think what I liked is that I didn't have to pack the food in and I didn't have to pack the leftovers and refuse out.  

 

I think this would be a great dinner for a busy family on a crisp fall day.

Graham @grapau27and Terry @smitty34877I'm sorry you both may need hip replacement surgery in the future.  I also hope you can hold off as long as possible with injections.  Hip and knee replacements are common in my family and I'm hoping to be an exception.  Lower back issues seem to be my biggest problem joint wise.

Château les Croisille 2020 Croizillon (Cahors) Southwest France

This wine made from Malbec grapes evidently displays a different side of that grape. I guess I need to try this to understand. A bit elusive. I did find a couple of online distributors with prices starting at a very reasonable $10.97.

Cahors is, without a doubt, the most dynamic appellation in Southwest France. Recently, the area has gained momentum within the wine industry, due to the dedication and innovation of a group of winemakers in their thirties, re-energizing the Lot region’s most renowned varietal – Malbec. Château Les Croisille is one of the vineyards taking part in this revolution, by utilizing sustainable farming practices and modern winemaking techniques to create Cahors wines with finesse, freshness and balance. 

In 1979 Cecile and Bernard Croisille rented an abandoned property on the Causses de Luzech to cultivate vines. Their children have since come on board to look after the 30 hectare domaine and have brought with them a sense of innovation and desire to take risks all while respecting traditional winemaking and encouraging the terroir to speak through the wines.  Château Les Croisille expanded its acreage and in 2010, converted to organic viticulture. The Croisille family focus on producing wines in harmony with the region’s unique terroir.

TASTING NOTES 

This is an easy drinking and fresh style of Malbec that can be enjoyed now.  Lots of juicy fresh raspberry, pomegranate and juicy blackberry fruit with a smooth and supple mouthfeel.  Enjoy this with a juicy burger, sausages, pizza with prosciutto.      

METHOD 

The grapes were sourced from several of vineyard’s different terroirs, allowing Malbec’s fruity and easily digestible qualities come to the forefront.  This wine is made from 100% Malbec grapes growing on clay sand soil. The average age of the vines are 30 years old. The wine is vinified with minimal extraction, whole cluster fermentation and partial carbonic maceration.  The wine rests 6 months in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tank.  

Our Thoughts

THIS 100% MALBEC FROM CAHORS SHOWCASES THE LIGHTER SIDE OF THE GRAPE ESCHEWING THE HEAVY EXTRACTION AND OAK USE COMMON AMONG THE ARGENTINIAN MALBECS AVAILABLE IN CANADA. THE GRAPES ARE GROWN WITHOUT THE USE OF CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS OR PESTICIDES ON A MIXTURE OF LIMESTONE AND CLAY SOILS. THE WINE IS FERMENTED IN WHOLE CLUSTERS AND UNDERGOES A SHORT CARBONIC MACERATION BEFORE BEING AGED IN A COMBINATION OF STAINLESS STEEL AND CONCRETE TANKS. Thank you for the Daily Fleet Report!  I'll hug a teddy bear but no real ones.  I'll give the food a try and maybe the drink.  Never been to this port.  It  looks like a gorgeous day out, so I might put the Christmas lights up outside but they won't get turned on until December 1st.

Good morning. It’s already 70 degrees and forecasted to reach a record high of 83. Looks like East Coast could receive some tropical weather this week but it appears we will remain dry. My spaghetti dinner received the ultimate compliment of guest going back for seconds!

Will be heading out for a walk and then it’s another Monday laundry day.

We we’re in Cabo last fall and will be revisiting this April on our Eurodam cruise and I believe we are going to repeat on the Salsa Salsa excursion that we enjoyed so much.

We have had bear sightings in our development and there is a new alligator swimming around the golf course lake. We also have a bobcat family appearing on our street now and then along with the yelping of coyotes packs in the area.

I get arthritis pain in hips,knees and feet every day but fortunately i have a high pain threshold.

My late mam had both her knees replaced with one of them done twice.

Her sister and my brother have both had hip replacement.

Blue Hawaii cocktail:

 

The Blue Hawaii cocktail was born at Honolulu’s Kaiser Hawaiian Village (now Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Resort). In 1957, a sales representative of Dutch distiller Bols asked legendary bartender Harry Yee to design a drink that featured its blue curaçao, a Caribbean liqueur made using the dried peel of the Laraha citrus fruit. The Blue Hawaii is a tropical cocktail made of rum, pineapple juice, Blue Curaçao, sweet and sour mix, and sometimes vodka. Ingredients
3/4 ounce vodka
3/4 ounce light rum
1/2 ounce blue curaçao
3 ounces pineapple juice
1 ounce sweet and sour mix*
Garnish: pineapple wedge
Garnish: cocktail umbrella

Preparation: Combine all ingredients with ice, stir or shake, then pour into a hurricane glass with the ice. For garnish score pineapple or orange slice with a knife and inert onto rim of glass; optionally use toothpick or cocktail umbrella to spear maraschino cherry through center and attach to top of fruit slice; otherwise float cherry on top of ice.

Good morning everyone. Thanks to all who contribute. Enjoying the early sunshine. I am hoping that the last four informational booklets for our Grand South America cruise arrive this week. I've been told that even the World cruisers have not received this information and we both leave on the same day from the same port. It was first promised by 90 days out then 60 days out, and we are now 57 days out. Oh well, at least we are going and life is good. Prayers for all.

Unlike @StLouisCruisers we do not have fog, but dark clouds.  Looks like it's going to rain, and that isnt in the forecast.  My BIL pointed out to me this past week, that being a weatherman would not be a bad job, you can still keep your job even when you are wrong 50% of the time.

 

DH has a dr's appt in midtown today,  in the middle of the day, so I will go back to work this evening.  I found out Saturday night that my next campaign will be fund raising. I'm pretty good at selling tickets, but not very good asking for money.  The music feeds the soul, and the I know that you want to have your symphony continue into the next generation, were good attempts 10 years ago, but with all the bogus calls folks get these days, asking for financial support gets harder and harder.
