Western Caribbean 1st time ..

  We will be doing a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise out of Tampa in early March.  And I am wondering what the chances of seeing sea life (whales, dolphins ect. ) 

I know it won't be like Alaska.. But never know 🙂

I can pretty much guarantee that your ship will encounter dolphins.  Whether or not you will see them depends on how much you watch the ocean.

 

My guess is that encountering whales is much less likely.

 

Another highly likely encounter would be flying fish.  Again, there is no schedule, you have to be watching the ocean.

Agree. All depends on how much time you spend watching the ocean. Almost definitely dolphins, flying fish and a few other sea creatures. Whales are a lower chance, but not impossible.

Whales are pretty rare in the Caribbean.

No whales.  Dolphins galore.  If you are lucky you will see a swarm of jellyfish at sea (not on the beach!). That was one of the most impressive wildlife sightings I have seen in the Caribbean.

Well, dolphins are whales, so.... 😉

 

Yes, bottle-nose dolphins are very common in the Caribbean.  Otherwise, you'll see lots of flying fish.
