Let's see.  How well has your grocery store been stocked over the last year?

Everything has gone through periods of shortages.  Why wouldn't this extend to the cruise industry?

It happens.  Welcome to the 2020s

They had sauteed mushrooms in the MDR, fwiw. Makes even less sense that they dont have them in chops.

So, from all the comments, we can assume that this is a Liberty problem.  😉

Liberty's problem is their Executive Chef who seems to do a poor job of overseeing his food outlets.

They had no mushrooms and no mushroom soup? WTH RCI? Seriously? That's like a hamburger joint not serving fries with their burgers. This make so sense whatsoever.

Food was good so no complaints.

Hmmm, I see some discrepancies here .... 🤔😉

OKAAAAAAY ... it all makes sense to me now! No mushrooms!! That explains the diced pickles I had lavishly covering my Beef Stroganoff on Harmony in September. No, I am NOT joking .... my beef stroganoff in the MDR was covered with diced PICKLES. I mean ... REALLY? I promptly sent that 💩 back! At least now I can imagine a reason for this .... they must have been out of mushrooms! 😂

If that is true then RCI should fix the problem.

Hopefully enough passengers will provided detailed feedback in the post cruise survey RCI solicits.

I have 3 or 4 more upcoming cruises (comp by Casino Royal) in the next few months while Liberty is sailing out of Fort Lauderdale.  I'm not sure if they will go through the trouble of linking my survey responses to me and my future cruises.  If they do, and I'm approached by someone senior onboard, I'd be happy to share my feedback directly, looking the Executive Chef or whomever in the eyes to tell them my flawed dining experiences.

Maybe the chef was using a German recipe.  There are a few versions of stroganoff that call for pickles.

And the executive chef may be replaced.  Years ago we had some similar issues and at the end of the cruise it was announced that the executive chef was moving to another ship (did not say what position he would have 😉 )

I'm 1/2 German, 1/2 Polish ...... and I've never heard of pickles on stroganoff. 🤷‍♂️

One quick google hit

https://mygerman.recipes/boeuf-stroganoff/

I had it served with sliced pickles years ago in Germany.

Always lots of versions of food.  For example, Chili  - I have friend that swears that if there are beans in it that it is not chili.  Of course, there are versions that have beans...

But you are right if it is not what you enjoy, no reason to eat it.

We cruised Liberty a few month ago and thought the food was very good...  To each their own preferences.

They actually made  public announcement that the executive chef was being replaced?

That seems rather harsh.

The announcement just said he was moving to another ship.  Nothing negative officially.

It was a transatlantic.  After about 7 days, there were a few very noisy complainers including a couple at our table who were in the food service industry.  Two days before the end of the cruise they announced that he was joining another ship.  Who would know why?  Perhaps it got him closer to his family??  Any way, officially there would be another executive chef on that ship.  So there can be issues, and the line does address them IMHO.

The OP said the food was good. You actually think you're so informed about food that they'd have you address your complaints directly to the Executive Chef based on your survey?😉

We can set aside my training and professional background in the hospitality industry (including food and beverage experience) aside, if you like, and I'll still say yes.

In fact, I've done it in the past on another ship.  I addressed my concerns about how a classic southern dish was not being prepared correctly in one of the specialty restaurants.  He got the message, and --at least the evening I dined in the specialty restaurant -- it was prepared traditionally.

Anything else?

As a follow-up to your inquiry, I'm on Harmony this week and just confirmed my personal sit down, one-on-one conversation this Friday with the Executive Sous Chef who is #2, just below the Executive Chef.

Just came off a 4 day Liberty cruise. It was supposed to go to Nassau and Coco Cay but instead went to Puerto Plata. Fine by me, weather was great all 4 days so well done to RCI. Much appreciated. Overall it was a fun cruise with few hiccups. I found the bed hard and our traveling partners each reported the same. Our room steward was able to put something on the mattress to make it better but I'd say by the looks of things, ther beds need some serious attention on this ship. The only other odd thing we found was during our visit to Chops. They had no mushrooms and no mushroom soup? WTH RCI? Seriously? That's like a hamburger joint not serving fries with their burgers. This make so sense whatsoever. Did Elon Musk buy RCI when I wasn't looking?

Anyway - great cruise, weather was perfect, crew exceptional, loads of fun by everyone and food was good so no complaints.

That made me chuckle.

Honestly, I have experienced this on all the ships I have sailed on in the last year and half at various times. One time Chops said no mushrooms, and I said something to the effect of "awww.. my favorite part." The waiter was very thoughtful, and ended up bringing mushrooms from somewhere... but they were like from a can with no seasoning, and heated up in a microwave. (my best guess since they were scorching hot in places, and ice cold in others LOL. I did not eat them, but it was a nice thought.

Mushrooms <> fries.  Hardly.

Correct... I can do without fries.

Just as long as they do not run out of liquor or beer!!!

Happened on the Majesty (r.i.p.) back in 2011, the first year of our heavy-metal cruise.

RCCL was told that this would be a hard-drinkin' clientele, and they obliged by stocking 20% extra beer and alcohol than for a normal 4-night cruise.

Unfortunately they offered the drink package that year.

They ran out of beer by noon, the day after sailing.   😄

The one-and-only port stop was Cozumel.  Upon arrival they purchased a lot of beer for the return voyage.  And I mean a LOT.

Lesson learned:  For all subsequent sailings, they have no longer offered any alcoholic drink packages, and any unsellable cabins (due to muster capacity) have been used for emergency backup beer storage.  That last was only a rumor...until I saw it with my own eyes two cabins down from us, whence a crewman wheeled out a bunch of beer on a cart and rolled it off with a grin.  😄
