JonoBhoy Posted November 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2022 Is anyone able to tell me how much an Apple Watch Series 8 (41mm + Cellular) costs onboard in the iLounge? Just trying to compare prices versus buying one as a Christmas give on-shore before we leave. Thanks in advance

You go to a casino slot machine, do a room charge for your OBC amount (casino staff are around and will be happy to help you). Once the room charge is complete, you can press "cash out" which prints out a voucher. Bring the voucher to the cashier and you'll receive cash. Doing so will "flag" your casino account for that sailing which simply means you cannot gamble again on that sailing until you convince a casino manager to remove your flag so you may want to wait until late in the sailing. Some ships like the Reflection require the room charge to happen at the cashier.
Jeremiah1212 Posted November 16, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 16, 2022 To my my knowledge they have never sold any cellular products onboard. It’s also not common to see most recent models of anything. I can’t recall ever seeing watches available.
ICANTWAITTOCRUISE Posted November 16, 2022 #10 Share Posted November 16, 2022 (edited) They had the newest apple watches on the Beyond recently. Not sure what you mean by cellular but as soon as I synced it, it worked with my phone. Edited November 16, 2022 by ICANTWAITTOCRUISE

There are 2 versions of each Apple Watch, the cheaper one is GPS only and relies on the connection to your iPhone, the more expensive version is GPS + Cellular and has its own direct connection to cellular services, not requiring the iPhone... Rare mahdnc Posted November 16, 2022 #14 Share Posted November 16, 2022 Non-cellular Apple Watch and iPhone talk to each other via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. I am somewhat surprised that Beyond had the latest model Apple Watch because the iLounge typically carries older models of Apple products.

Rare Jim_Iain Posted November 16, 2022 #21 Share Posted November 16, 2022 I haven't seen any iWatch on any of the ship since before shut down. When they do have product it is sold at the U.S. Retail price (no Sales Tax). Occasionally when really old stock they have been known to discount. Maybe you don’t want your significant other to know how much you are gambling. Maybe you don’t have any more onboard credit but you still want to gamble and not rack up a new bill on your credit card. Maybe you don’t care about Blue Chip club. I can think of a few other reasons but there are three to start with 1

If you have gotten locked out of the ability to use your room card because of significant "washing" of OBC without gambling, and then you want to gamble, using cash is a way to do it. On our recent Silhouette cruise, we had a large amount of OBC we preferred to take as cash. We had literally never entered the casino in 8+ prior X cruises. Five days before the end of the cruise, we each transferred $100 to a slot machine, and played a few plays. We both quit after just a few plays, because we were both up and it seemed a good time to stop. Cashed out. Ended up being locked out for 72 hours. Casino manager told us that in order not to be locked out, you have to play at least 10% of the amount you put on the card. Not lose that much, just play it. When our hold was up, and when we knew how much OBC we weren't going to need for spa, extra tips, etc., we went back and loaded all the remaining balance. By then I had decided that slots was fun, so I played enough to unfreeze my balance and actually come out a little ahead. Hubby played just a bit - his card remained frozen, but it was fine as we had achieved our goal.

During our Connie TA cruise earlier this month I saw a British couple take $200 of promo chips from their OBC at the cashier cage and proceed to go straight to the roulette table. They split the promo chips between them and one bet on red and while the other bet on black. The winner would be paid in cashable chips while the loser would lose their promo chips. The retained stack of promo chips from the winner would then be split in half and the procedure would be re-run again. When you do that, zero and double zero is your enemy and they were able to avoid that fate that until they were down to betting one single $5 promo chip.
