Casino Cash

Hey Folks,

 

Does Norwegian allow to get cash for casino against my stateroom bill -- not asking about ATMs, directly from casino --? Or do we need to bring cash with us? TIA.

You can charge it to your room and you are charged $3 by NCL.

you can.  just know that there is a 3% fee.  There is also a daily limit,  but I'm not sure what that limit is

My wife pulled $200 from a slot machine on the Bliss two weeks ago and they charged our credit card $3. Maybe we were lucky.

3% charge, charged as a US travel purchase.  So no foreign fees (US) plus any travel points your card gives you.  If you have the NCL card you get 3x points, so it's a wash because you can get the fees back as a statement credit.

ATM fee is $5.95 for comparison.

Bring cash. Then you know how much you are going to lose. The temptation to keep charging to your room is dangerous!

I use casino cash to pad my NCL card points that I use for upgrades. My bank doesn't give me anything extra if I just get cash before I leave, CC points may have benefits such as frequent flier points, sometimes at even a higher rate than 3%. 

Just something to consider, obviously only a good thing if you always pay off your balance.

I got carried away on a Princess cruise and kept charging $20 before I knew it I had a $1200 bill. I learned my lesson.

On NCL (Encore Specifically), what are the table minimums for things like roulette and craps?

I apply in advance for a casino credit (marker). This way I know my budget for the cruise. Sadly, I've yet to not have to write a check at the end of the cruise!

ATM fee is like $8….so depends on amount. Cheaper to take $500 out of ATM then bill $500 to your room

Ok, maybe that was something different.  I didn't know you could charge a CC directly in the casino.  Usually the change is to your onboard account and this is where you would see the 3% charge.

This is the way to do it - line of credit or bring cash.

Yes. It is cheaper to use the ATM than do a room charge for any quantity of money.

Not if your CC gives statement credit for travel purchases. With a 3% rebate, net charge for fees is zero.
