Astro Flyer Posted June 26, 2023 #501 Share Posted June 26, 2023 This OZ/NZ presentation was more informative for me than the Princess US webinars. It did peak my interest somewhat although not enough to book Sun. After reading about onboard experiences I’ll decide whether to book or not. At the end a question about coffeemakers shown in artist renderings was asked & I’ve read posts asking this question. He said that all suites will have them but as of now he thinks it would be upon request for other cabins. Whether there will be enough for each cabin that won’t be known until the ship sails. My guess is they will not have enough for each cabin or they would have them in every cabin.
Rare dides Posted June 26, 2023 #502 Share Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) Most of the information has actually been covered by Richard Parker before in his presentations - almost word for word in fact. As well as the coffeemaker answer as mentioned above, I noticed some additional nuggets/nuances: - the secret black door was mentioned as being "adjacent to crooners". Which almost confirms it as being that Coming Soon area next to the Casino on deck 8. aka The Magic Hour Bar on the cruisemapper deck plan. - the promenade deck actually flows from mid-ship to aft - well we knew it wasn't 360. - the MDR room starts with more traditional dining and a longer seating time on deck 6 and gets faster as you go up to deck 8 (a slightly different description of the dining experiences from before). - even though it's on the cabana stateroom layout, this is the first mention that there will be a multi-leaf door leading from the cabana to the balcony And there was an additional rendering of the Lido deck pool from the other end: Edited June 26, 2023 by dides 3

I can see the coffeemakers being one of those things where they eventually need to add them to all of the cabins, or wouldn’t there be an uproar? snoozecrooze Posted June 27, 2023 #504 Share Posted June 27, 2023 Just a minor PSA- Princess and HAL stand to be just some of the winners from Celebrity's abrupt cancelation of the Beyond's summer 2024 itineraries in Europe so I'd recommend anybody who's been targeting (but not yet committed to) a Sun Princess sailing during peak season to watch them closely. As much as they're integrating a few "ship-within-a-ship" concepts here and there, much of the ship's public areas actually seem quite open. We'll see how it goes when the ship comes out. As an aside, P&O doesn't charge for their evening dome shows either and I feel like Princess and P&O tend to be on similar wavelengths.
vividharp Posted June 28, 2023 #510 Share Posted June 28, 2023 It would be very unfortunate to make the shows an upcharge. Hopefully they do not go in that direction.

beg3yrs Posted June 28, 2023 #513 Share Posted June 28, 2023 I watched the presentation as well. What I've missed is any mention of how the build is doing with regards to schedule. I ask this for a couple of reasons. We've booked the June 1st sailing out of Barcelona and I just read an article about the latest Behemoth of the Seas (the Oasis) going out on her first sea trials. She's scheduled to start sailing with passengers in January. The Sun Princess is scheduled to start sailing in February and she doesn't look anywhere near ready for sea trials, even in a month or so. Of course I'm not a ship project manager but one would think build schedules for these large ships would be similar to some extent. That is a concern to me especially as Princess has been mum on this topic. Any of you insiders have better info?
Wishing on a star Posted June 28, 2023 #514 Share Posted June 28, 2023 There is that photo posted a couple pages back, taken mid June, that seems to show the ship is really coming along. The Sea Witch is there. Still some buildout on the cabns and upper areas. That could go fairly quickly. Of course, I know absolutely nothing, But, I am not thinking that they are afraid of any delays, yet. Only time will tell.
Wishing on a star Posted June 28, 2023 #515 Share Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) Okay, having thought more about the Sanctuary, it seems that it will only have side views of the sea, as the aft is the Signature area. That might be okay, but the talk of the Sanctuary Cabanas being along the side, with sea views is a real concern. Would Princess actually take the entire length of both sides and line them, and block them off with Cabanas, so that nobody else, having rented loungers, is able to access a sea view? I certainly hope not. But, they surely did ruin the Retreat Pool on the new ships by completely blocking it in. So, Princess is not above stooping to such a low. Maybe some of the Port and Starboard will be open... maybe with the small open access sitting areas, like the Sanctuaries currently have. The fact that this will be the only 'adult only' pool, is already a real factor. Hopefully a complete lack of any view or feeling of being on the see isn't a huge drawback. Or maybe it's not so unbelievable since that's the industry trend (cramming cabins and people on ships). Your best bet for a "cheat" is maybe one of the very few oblong shaped interior cabins sprinkled throughout (like 12102).

I think you can check these videos out for just a slight analogous example: Carnival Mardi Gras has typical-looking interior cabins that you see on the deck plan (as shown here for room 5235): And then you have numerous "square" cabins that are basically just wider but narrower in length (as shown here for room 9483): They're supposed to be the same/similar square footage, but basically configured differently, which can give you the illusion of more space based on how things are positioned in the cabin (example: closet)
