Rare ToxM Posted December 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2022 As long as it gets to Miami for the 23rd and they do the immigration check in San Juan they can go where they want! 1
jonthomas Posted December 16, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) we are on it jan 4....so if ports are skipped, does O compensate...it is not weather related....I probably know the answer to that.... Robjame Posted December 16, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted December 16, 2022 The long port time in Miami should allow the engineers to address the problem. I guess engine overhaul wasn’t part of the refit.

It was first announced that St John would be missed and then the reason was given today.

No, they don't break the charges for ports and taxes out separately, so they don't refund them when a port is missed. Occasionally they might have open bar for a while.

CruiseAF Posted December 16, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2022 If the Caribbean were to have an enema, Nassau is where they stick the hose.

NeedToChill Posted December 16, 2022 #14 Share Posted December 16, 2022 Newfoundland is a wonderful place, with very wonderful people. That's a real shame.

TakingFlight Posted December 17, 2022 #18 Share Posted December 17, 2022 Mid-October we missed Gibraltar on the Riviera due to engine problems. Surprised they didn’t fix this during the makeover. Everyone was bummed about missing that port.
DrHemlock Posted December 17, 2022 #19 Share Posted December 17, 2022 Our cabin was port-side on that cruise so at least we had a nice view of the Rock (including Marina already docked there) as we sailed past, having departed Casablanca about 8 hours late due to "propulsion problems."

I was totally disappointed with it. I know they have the rock and the monkeys...but I thought it was dirty, rundown and as I was walking just kept thinking WTH is the appeal here? After 90 minutes I went back to the ship.

Rare pinotlover Posted December 17, 2022 #24 Share Posted December 17, 2022 We were there in early November from the Sirena. Enjoyed the day. Didn’t find the main pedestrian street to be as described above. Also enjoyed the tour up the Rock with all the great views. Had a great lunch in town. Found it funny seeing the good monkeys versus the bad monkeys!
