Splendor was a Costa ship but I digress.

And I've been to Alaska on Spirit and Miracle a few times and going again next year.

I've been on ships too warm and we asked the Hotel Director about it and that is when I was told they can adjust the temperature of the public areas and so the whole ship but not so much the cabins. Next cruise I'll find the Chief Engineer.

I'm interested in finding out the science behind the ship temperature. I'll get to the bottom of it. No worries.

I suspect because it was warmish and sunny when we were cruising that they had it on a set temp and it made it the ship too warm whereas it probably would have been fine had it been the "normal" rainy/overcast weather and temps in Alaska in May.  I mainly noticed it in our cabin and in the covered pool area.

I am on the ship right now. I have no issues in my cabin but have spoken with multiple people who are freezing. One person said the temp in their cabin was 52.

52 degrees!

That's shorts and t-shirt weather for Northerners. 🥵

Deja  Vu! Last year, the complaints were rolling around about the heat problem. I sailed on her February 27 and was following for this reason. I didn't have any problems, but 2 weeks prior, it was "fixed". Last January, I heard it all. I guess it  has problems again.

What wine goes best with cooked cruiser?🤔

Well, I have heard cooked cruiser tastes like chicken so whatever goes with chicken... 🤣

I was on the 12/3 sailing on LEGEND from Baltimore.   My cabin was forward/ Deck 4. It was VERY cold the first night and the the last night with blowers on full.  I turned the temp gauge all the way down and although it wasn’t necessarily blowing out heat it did turn the blowers down which helped.

All ships do have Heat/AC capability.  However, remember it’s not particularly room by room designated… more like Deck to deck.  If your sailing through/from a cooler climax are naturally the system will be trying to work with what temps the intake is getting.  Cold will give you Colder days.

After a day of sailing down the east coast in DEC, the room began to normalize with temps.  It definitely was more a Blower on high or low setting I had to adjust rather than Hot to Cold.

I just got off the legend I was on a b2b- 7days then 8 days but couldn't get the same cabin. The first cabin was freezing until we reached the 80- degree weather on the third day and then freezing again on the way back. I complained on the first day.  I was told by both guest services and the maintenance people that the legend did not have heat in the cabins. The maintenance people did something in the ceiling that they said would raise the temperature of the a/c. It was so cold I had to have 2 extra blankets just to try and fall asleep, after their fix, one extra blanket would suffice. When I got to the new cabin (on a different deck), I asked the steward for an extra blanket right away and he told me my new cabin was the hottest cabin- he was sweating whenever he had to clean in there. He was right in that it was much warmer than my first cabin. I really only needed the blanket on the first and last days when it was 30-40  degrees outside. However, all the public areas were very cold both weeks, I always had to wear a sweater while we were in The Bahamas and a coat on the trip down and back.  I have been on this itinerary multiple times in Dec on the Pride and not had any issues with the temperature.

This is making me wonder why in the world Carnival is sailing Legend to Greenland next year, and I'm questioning my sanity for booking one of those cruises.

Good morning everyone

i was on the sailing that just ended yesterday. (12/18-12/26) We were in 6180 & 6182. Our rooms were very cold with temps in the 50s according to the staff that came and measured them. We were told by guest services, the room steward (Luis) and the engineers that came to inspect that the ship was too old to have heat. I have never heard of a ship not having heat before. This is confusing to me as we were on the Legend last Christmas and it was not this cold. Our rooms were noticeably colder than the rest of the common areas and the temperature dial did nothing. The only solution that could offer was to bring extra blankets and suggested that we contact carnival when we got home as there was nothing they could do.

Absolutely everything in this post is correct. I am so frustrated with this situation. We are suppose to cruise again Jan 2 and honestly I don’t want to. It was so uncomfortable and being told there is no heat when I have been on this ship in winter before is just not acceptable. I just said 12/18-12/26. We had 2 staterooms 6180 and 6182. It was freezing! Temps in the 50s according the staff measurements. We were told by the room steward (Luis), the engineer that came to the room and guest services that the ship does not have heat and it is too old to be equipped with it. I have shared this last week with y’all during the sailing. Guest services could only give us blankets and suggest we contact carnival when we get back. Returning home yesterday I called Carnival there is absolutely someone if you want to book a cruise and spend more but I have learned that there isn’t actually anyone to call for cruises that have already ended you. You send an email and wait for them to respond within 45 days. The lady did make sure to tell me that there is no flag for the ship and she has never heard of the ship not having heat. I feel my concern was very brushed off with people being sure to tell me they had heat on Alaskan cruises previously like I didn’t just live this experience for the past 8 nights 😩 I really hope it is warmer next week

Two Grand Suites? Did you close the balcony doors? I might have just soaked in the whirlpool tub until the ship ran out of hot water.

That is terrible!  I am so sorry you went through this. I will definitely think twice before booking Legend on a cold weather sailing.

I can't help but think that the issue is that the heat is broken and CCL isn't fixing it rather than the boat not having heat at all...  I believe that is what the guests are being told, but I have been on the Pride when it was north of Scotland when it was cold and it had heat.

Yes there are 5 of us in our family and we open the divider to have easier access to each other. We kept the doors closed and the tried to tuck in the curtains to avoid any draft. Not only was there not heat blowing the vents were blowing cold air on us. It was terrible.

I absolutely believe this. There is no way the ship is just not equipped with heat

With our Legend cruise just 25 days away, I am concerned as we also have one of the Greenland cruises booked as well. After reading other comments that it sailed to Alaska in summer (although nothing like a true winter sailing) with heat, it sounds as if there is something not working to produce heat for certain staterooms. The right thing for Carnival to do is admit it, and maybe offer to rebook passengers that are assigned to staterooms that are currently affected. That is, if a fix is not achievable. We still have at least three more months of winter ahead.

We were on that cruise. December 18th to the 26th. We had a travel clock with a temperature gauge. Our cabin on deck 6 was 64 degrees when we left Baltimore and 60.1 upon arrival back in Baltimore. While in our last port of call in Grand Turk we asked how to make it warmer for when we returned to Baltimore. The service person they sent up took notes, refused to comment and left the room. The only time the room temperature and ship temperature was semi decent was in the Bahamas. I feel bad for the crew. The staff all had jackets or winter coats on. The only place that had intermittent warmth was the casino where the slot machines were concentrated. So, if you take a winter cruise on the Legend, dress warmly. We had a nice time other than being cold. And yes the dining room food choices have gone downhill.

We were also on the Holiday Cruise on the Legend.  Had an AFT balcony on deck 6.  On the cold days, it was freezing. We slept in our clothes on the really cold nights.

Other than that, we had a great time. MDR service was great , and the  food quality was better than on Radiance, which I was on in August.  I would absolutely book again.. just not a balcony room in winter.

Booked for 2 weeks on Legend, January 8th.  I'll throw a hoodie in the suitcase (LOL)

Sailed on winter cruises from Baltimore on Pride and it was never "freezing."

Oh well...Hot drinks with a shot or two will ease the pain!
