Jewel Of The Seas

She may have some new wayfinder digital TVs around the ship that may not have been present in 2010.  LED lighting around the ship.

Still has the PitStop bar.  Not sure a whole lot has changed since 2010.

She has Starlink internet now and from what a friend experienced last week it's one of the fastest internet ships in the fleet.

I was on her in October.  Great cruise, great crew.  No complaints.

I am on Jewel now, so if you have a specific question, I can try to answer it. We have been on for the last cruise and current cruise.

Our Internet has been the worst since the return to sailing. We are constantly knocked off, and have no Internet service in our cabin.

Staff is extremely friendly and efficient. Staff shortages are still evident, in tables being cleared in dining room/Windjammer, etc. Food in the dining room has been pretty good.  Only went to the Windjammer once or twice, and most of the tables are very large round tables so WJ seating is an issue.

entertainment has been OK.

While you do have it, can you perform a speed test? You simply go to fast.com in a browser.

The new Starlink install won't fix your issues - that's likely due to your distance from the nearest wifi access point.

You don't have one of those VPN "Protect" services on do you?  AT&T bundles one, Apple has one now, other companies.  Google has one so they can track your every packet.  They protect by trying to run a VPN which can cause issues on ships and airplane wifi.  You connect then the VPN kicks to protect you.  Except it blocks the ship DNS servers.

Will be on Jewel twice in 2023. I am trying to a get a handle on  the pricing of the various non alcoholic drink packages.. What is the current “pay as you go” cost of a can of soda and a bottle/can of water? I am not sure I will drink enough of either to justify getting a package, so pricing would be very helpful. Thanks.

Break even for the soda package is about 3 drinks a day, 4-5 drinks is the break even for the refreshment package.

Good point. Internet reliability was better in our cabin than in some of the public areas. Fortunately for us, we generally only use the internet when we are in the cabin.

Where is your cabin located? Starlink was excellent last week in our cabin on deck 8.

Curious about that as well.  We are deck 10 B2B in a couple of weeks, then again B2B end of February.

Did you notice if they were showing college and NFL games at the Pit Stop Bar.  Looking to go in January and was hoping they'd have the NFL playoffs showing in there.   TIA.

Yes but Pit Stop Bar is very smokey from the casino.  It's more open to the  casino compared to the Pub on other Radiance class ships.  After a few hours watching a game I wreaked of cigarette smoke.

I usually buy cans of Coke a la carte, but on the Jewel this month I bought a soda package because it was a good sale. I hesitated because I don't really like fountain pop, but it was great!  The pop was tasty, the freestyle machines in the Windjammer was great fun (when they were working) and the insulated cup was fairly attractive and not a hassle to bring around the ship.

I tipped the bartenders $1 every time I got a refill and always got great service. Otherwise, I noticed the bartenders tend to wait on those wanting alcoholic drinks first.

Was just looking at the app for the current sailing, we are going on January 20th, and for this week they have football games on the pool screen. I would imaging they will do the same. We did that on Oasis was great.

How is seating handled in the main dining room? We have anytime dining booked for a transatlantic in April. We just got off the Celebrity silhouette and had anytime dining but if you hadn’t made reservations before the cruise when we got onboard we could only come to the dinner at 5:30 or 8:45. They also would not seat us with anyone else even when there were tables available to accommodate more. On the Jewel are people from different parties seated together in anytime dining? Do we have to make reservations ahead? If so when? In the fixed time dining room are people from different parties seated together or kept apart?

They have two separate lines, one for those with reservations, and one for those without.  We had reservations every night, but often the line without reservations was  shorter so that was the line we got in. Some nights, little or no lines at all.

We were not seated with other parties, but  sone tables were so close together, it seemed like were.

Did you ask to be seated alone or with others? In the past we were always offered by the host to be seated with others and it was quicker.

NFL playoffs, definitely.  College probably.

Jewel does not have a sports bar that shows games different than what is available in your cabin.

The Pit Stop the only bar where you can get a cocktail and watch the games.
