Question about Edge class Hot Tubs

The two Champagne glass shaped hot tubs on deck 16 - How do you get to them?  

 

I don't see any elevators up to deck 16 outside of the Retreat area.  Do you have to walk up the ramp from deck 15?  Is that the only access?

There are stairs on the starboard side abeam both.

The jogging path winds around and up two floors.   You can reach the hot tubs by just following the jogging walking path.    Their are also stairs adjacent.    I don't believe there is an elevator available as it is adjacent to the Retreat Sun Deck.

On the Apex (assume Edge is the same) take aft elevator to deck 15 one hot tub is on this level the other is at the top of the jog/walk ramp outside of retreat area as mentioned above, we were not able to figure out a way to get to the higher one by elevator.

Don't forget there are one or two hot tubs in the Solarium on Edge class ships that are handicap accessible.

You mentioned the ramp (and nothing about handicap)---exactly what are you looking for?

We loved those on the Apex - sailing out of two Iceland ports we stayed there and enjoyed the view.  But cold getting out and either walking down the ramp to 15 or taking the stairs down to 15.

As noted in the SCOTUS decision in Spector v NCL, foreign flag cruise ships do not have to fully comply with the ADA.  Also, if there are accessible hot tubs available, then there can be some that are not accessible.  It all comes down to whether it would have required a major change to the ship to meet the accessibility requirements, and also SOLAS trumps ADA (though that has nothing to do with hot tubs).

I am not in need of handicap access. 

Like SbbquilterUT said - getting out can be cold and windy and having to walk down the ramp all wet doesn't seem to be very conducive and counterproductive to a great hot tub experience.

Although the high view aspect of them seems nice.  

I guess they won't be that crowded being out of the way.

There are plenty of loungers up there to stow your towels/robes while soaking.

This is exactly what we noticed on Apex last week. I wonder whether that was intended by design.
