I know you can get extra benefits when booking a cruise from secondary sites.  I was wondering if you can do this with a CAS offer, of if you have to do it thru NCL.  Thanks,

You have to book a CAS deal through NCL.

Your benefit is a comp’ed or discounted cruise. You have to be a CAS rated player or a land offer to book through CAS;

Land based free cruise certificate

Land based discount (e.g. Caesars top tier discounts)

Land based perked,(e.g., Caesars Seven Star cruise)

Prior cruise guest rated by CAS  (comp or discount)

Your onboard perks are provided by your CAS player’s club tier status. OBC (up to $1000 based on status), free drinks (including bottled water and energy drinks) up to ultra drinks depending on status, Wi-Fi minutes or unlimited

Pre-pandemic, there would be up to 25% of the adults sailing on a cruise with a casino offer. Think about that, every 4th door as you walk down the hall is sailing on a free or discounted cruise fares. And many getting perks onboard.

They must have collectively lost a gigantic amount of money in the casinos to make this worthwhile for NCL.

I've been sailing with NCL for over 35 years, (sapphire) and on each cruise dumped a bit of money in the casino. Never tried, or even thought about trying to book via CAS, as I don't consider myself a big gambler.   How do I find out what my CAS status is?  Is it cumulative, or specific to the most recent sailing?

they will look at your most recent sailing or two.  It doesn't take much play to at least get a discount.  You may be eligible for a 20% discount

People are responding as if you are asking what a CAS offer is, but if I am reading correctly, I don't think that's your question. The answer is yes and no lol. For example, you can book a CAS cruise with NCL and still get American Express Platinum benefits, and you can also transfer your CAS booking to your travel agent (there's a form for that) who may or may not offer additional perks based on your relationship with them (they don't make commission on your CAS booking.)  However, you can't say book an NCL casino comp through another site.

Hi there. Pcakes, thank you for responding to the OP with your explanation because I think you are correct about the info they were looking for. And it happens that I am looking for the same? Do you have experience doing this yourself? You mentioned that the TA would not get commission on the date. Do you know if this is true even if the CAS offer was just 20% off? Wouldn’t that mean there is commissionable fare left for the TA? I am interested in trying this out to see if I can get any extra perks from a TA, but I have always booked direct, so I don’t have a relationship with a TA to see if they could even try. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I have a TA that I really love and she used to be an NCL PCC and would love to work with her again but I book through CAS to get great discounts/comped cabin.  But I'm not understanding why I would get any discounts/perks by transferring a reservation to her agency if they/she wouldn't get any commission?  Wouldn't that mean that they would lose money?

People transfer their CAS reservations to travel agents that are part of the American Express system so they can get their American Express platinum perks on the cruise (onboard credit up to $300 and free dinner for two at LeBistro.)

Ok, but how does the TA make money off of this?  I have an AE card that I opened to get airmiles with Delta so could I get this perk or would I have to have a NCL perks program with AE?  Couldn't you just used the AE card when booking with CAS?

The travel agent doesn't make any money from this. Transferring does not benefit the travel agent in any way, it only benefits the traveler. The travel agent has to be part of the American Express travel network (not just any travel agent.) The booking has to be owned by an American Express travel agent to get the perks. CAS is not part of the American Express travel network. (Also, the perks come with the Platinum American Express card only, to my knowledge, so you need to check whether or not this is a benefit of your Delta card.)

I stopped doing it only because my American Express travel agent retired and I don't know another one.

Thanks for the confirmation that you have done it in the past. I am outside of the booking window on everything that I currently have booked, so I will need to do some homework to find a TA that will accept a CAS booking, even if it is just for the AMEX benefit.

We are booked through CAS for our next cruise in March. Comped inside then upgraded to balcony. My Mom and I just off a cruise yesterday and were both sick on that cruise. Now my Mom does not want to go on the NCL cruise next month, which the discount is booked through. I would still like to go. We are 34 days out. Does anyone know if she just does not  show up but I do what happens. Or do we need to cancel her booking? Not sure what to do. I don't think we have travel insurance for this cruise, not too much lost if we can't go. If anyone has been in this situation please let me know. Thanks.

If I booked a cruise via CAS (certificate from a land-based casino), can I just call the regular NCL customer service number to inquire about cabin upgrades, or must/should I call CAS?  I have an upgrade bid placed already (from ocean view to Club Balcony Suite) but am concerned the ocean view cabin would be problematically small for me, so if the price to guarantee a suite isn’t TOO too much I would prefer to lock it in 🙂  Would CAS possibly have better pricing/availability for upgrades that regular customer service might not?

If you booked through CAS, then I would call CAS first.  They may be able to offer you a better price for the upgrade.  Just price it out yourself first and decide what you are willing to pay for an upgrade.  I've often been pleasantly surprised with what I've been offered, but other times it's not such a great deal.  You never know until you try.

Good luck!

If you booked through CAS, then general reservations are not supposed to touch the reservation. And if they touch the reservation, it may get undone by CAS.
