I think you can buy OBC which should be totally refundable. We've done that in the past and gotten cash from Guest Services to use in ports.

Not sure if this still works.

I think the offer I got was it had to be on a deposit or cruise fare.

No it doesn't it can be anything related to Celebrity. As a matter of fact i bought casino free play 10% bonus 500$ tables + $500 slots with my 1000$ and added it to my existing booking. I checked in my Amex app and it's showing as Celebrity Cruise purchase.

Yes.  Land based casinos code credit cards withdrawals as cash advances where the casino may or may not charge their own fee but your credit card will charge you cash advance fees.  On cruise lines, they may or may not charge you a room charge fee but that goes directly to the cruise line.  Room charge transactions are added to your on board account which will be coded as travel (not cash advances)

We currently have $200 non refundable OBC for our upcoming cruise.

If we buy $1000 OBC now for that cruise to trigger the Amex  credit how do we ensure that OBC (not the non refundable) would be used in the casino?

Do you know what happens to that money if you only use a small part of it? And again, we have $200 non refundable OBC - will they use that first to pay for a purchase similar to yours?

Hi everyone!  I have a 24 hour hold on a Solstice sailing with my travel agent. I asked them how it was charged, and they said that the charge goes directly through Celebrity, and will show up that way on my credit card bill.

Will this offer (which I have added to my AmEx card already) work if I pay through my travel agent?

I ask because they are offering an additional $200 on board credit that the celebrity website is not offering for my cabin.

Thank you SO much for any information!

Yes, when TAs make a booking then the charge comes directly from

Celebrity.

Don't know as I have not had a non-refundable credit

Nothing to lose to try multiple cards, I'd just set my expectations extremely low that you're awarded the offer twice

Expectations are zero, so hard to go lower 😁

I did notice today in the Amex app that it says my offer from Celebrity was redeemed.  So that's a positive.  Although yesterday, I also redeemed an offer from a Drunk Elephant, a skincare company.  Today I received an email from Amex saying "you've redeemed an offer from Drunk Elephant".  I did not have the email from them saying that about Celebrity.  Hope this one goes through too.

Read the T&C as your assumption is doubtful based on everyone else's offers.  However it does indeed exclude on board purchases

People always think that but ,as you said, it includes any pre-cruise purchases made directly from Celebrity.

I hope you’re right but when I went back to my account I couldn’t find the offer. Any idea how yo relocate it

If you didn't yet add it to your card you may be SOL.  If you did add it, there is a "added to card" tab

I must’ve missed it because it’s not there now. Sure wished I had added it before it expired since we leave in two weeks

So you get "special" casino chips with this purchase. What happens at the end of the cruise if you have any of these chips left? Can you get cash for a 5% fee?

If you buy OBC with a credit card pre-sailing can OBC be used in the casino without paying for 5% as it is not cash forwarding from a credit card?

YES! The key to avoid a transaction fee is to add $ to your account at the machine.

You u place your key card in. I think your automatic PIN is your birthday month & day (it prompts you).

Then Charge to room.

If it goes to the machine, simply pull your card out & it will automatically go back to your card.

Head to the cage & cash out.

My final payment is not due until June 10, 2023.  Can I make an early payment of $1,000 now to trigger this offer and then pay the balance on June 10?  Would the early payment be refundable assuming I cancelled within the proper timeframe?  Thank you.

Call X, I wouldn’t trust someone on here telling you it’s refundable as that info may be out of date

It's refundable but you will lose the bonus from Amex unless you can get your TA or Celebrity to transfer that $1000 to another cruise. (This from experience!)

If it gets refunded to the Amex the bonus also gets nixed.

I don’t book my cruise deposit on my AMEX card. When I have had an AMEX bonus applied and then had to cancel, the entire amount has been refunded to the original card (and we don’t lose the AMEX bonus).

My husband's offer is a bit different ($500 for 17,500 points), which leads me to believe I'm going to be able to use both.  I'll keep you posted.

I was able to use 4 cards on the account and get the offer for all 4.  I had 3, spend 1,000 get 30,000 points and 1 spend $500 get 17,500.  All points have hit my account.  I hope this helps.

Woo hoo!!! Congrats!  Thank you for testing this out.

I will call and add another $1,000 of OBC tomorrow.  We got it on two of our cards on the same master account.
